HP Photosmart C3180 Printer. Print faded and illegible, sometimes not working at all

Was working fine. Changed setting to draft quality. Now will not print properly - poor quality in both black and colour (black now virtually disappeared). Have changed settings back; have changed cartridges; have uninstalled / reinstalled. None have made any difference. Appreciate advice please?

SOURCE: poor quality output

Hi If your printer has been left unused for a while your print head is clogged.

You need to unclog it with a print head cleaning kit like Magic Inkjet Flush or if in a rush give it the Magic sauna treatment.

Heres how:
1. Remove print head
2. Hold print head directly in escaping steam from a kettle for 5/10 seconds only
3. Wait 5 seconds and sit it print head down onto a paper towel untill you get an inky foot print.
4. Print test.
5. If any white lines repeat above.
6. Also try wrapping in a paper towel and FLICK DOWNWARDS to put fresh ink into print head after steaming.

Good Luck!

SOURCE: HP Laserjet 4350dtn Print Quality poor

Most likely the fuser has lost part of the teflon from the heat roller. Having said that, the first step in any print quality issues is to change the toner cartridge. good luck!

SOURCE: black print is faded when i print

# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

It takes a looong time for the printer to print just a few lines

What print quality are you using? Go to the print window, check properties. Under the features tab check print quality. If you are using anything above normal such as Best or Maximum DPI, more memory is necessary to print and will slow down printing. If you don't need high quality printing, change the setting.

My printer is hp 2418 it is given print is very slow . so what to do

Adjust the Quality Settings for your printer.

Reduce the quality.

If it's on Best/Maximum Quality, Then change it to Normal or Draft.

That will speed it up, although it will accordingly reduce print quality, as well as amount of ink used per page.

Vertical and horizontal lines when printing photos - HP Photosmar

Hi,
it sounds as if you may have the picture quality set to draft, its worth a check, especially if printing is ok. Does it print colour writing well too or just black, one of the colour inks may have a block or be low, go into printer settings menu and check what print quality its set for.

I have a 3100 series HP. On it you select "Properties", then the "Features" tab. On that tab, there is a "Resizing Options" menu item. It has a drop down menu with "Letter", "More...", and "Custom" choices. There you can define the size.

Deteriorating Print Quality

This is Maltesecross. Turns out that the faintness of my printed pages was in fact due to a low ink cartridge, even though some pages printed out fine and others half-good. Eventually, all pages turned faint, and upon re-installing the driver, I got a low-ink warning (the first one ever). Putting in a new ink cartridge solved the problem for me.

HP Photosmart C3180 color printing problems

This can sometimes be a printer problem or bad quality ink. However I have known this to happen with corrupt printer drivers. Try uninstalling the printer via ControlPanel>AddRemove Programs and then re-installing it.
