SONY TV. STANBY TIMER FLASHING - Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-34HS420 34" TV

I have the same tv with the same problem, replace the power supply boards and still had same problem, called in a tv repair man and I was told I have a main board problem bu board Watch Dog Timer used to track micro processors, led flashing 10 times cost around $425 parts and service call

standby light flashing is an indication that tv needs service. it prevents the tv from further damage. go to www.eservice.sony.com to check service options

Need to replace the lamp. Hope this helps

When was the last time u replaced the lamp?

U can't stanby mode indecation power is there,for ready to go to power when power go to high voltage.

Please provide more info.
1. Does the TV stay on, if so,
2. Is the LED flashing, how many times stop same number of times again
3. If TV goes to stanby, count the flashing LED.
4. If LED comes on goes off , at firsdt switch on. does it make a thumping noise.

This unit shouldb e flashing a repeated count on the standby light. That count will indicate the circuit in which a problem was detected causig the shutdown. Please post that count and we should be able to provide details on the repair.

Led blinking Three times means B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply circuit, check T603 and R672. If you have electronic knowledge you may be able to fix it. Let me know if I could help you further.

There are any number of things could be wrong here. If you have an ever so slight chirping sound coming from inside the unit when you press power could be defective crt driver Ic702 which is a Tda6108 and a common problem for these sets. Could be regulator or flyback and could even be vertical Ic which is a Tda8172 and just the way that circuit is designed, without full deflection from a failed Ic, the shutdown would keep the power off...
Best advice here is take it in to a qualified shop and have them estimate it, you'll be money and headaches ahead..
