No, Acer no longer supplies the recovery discette off the bat. However if you call their customer service they can send you one.

This is due to the drivers. This will require a kernel build and the drivers to be checked. check the Ubuntu forums for a kernel build for your Acer there should be a script to correct this already written.

Hey in the control panel, go to the mouse, then look for the properties that have a PS/2 compatible mouse, you can change its settings there by sellecting other compatible mouse instead of PS/2, and also there is a settings or a check box that says the onboard mouse of your laptop will be disable if a usb mouse will be pluged.hope it soved your problem, :)

Fan vibration, noisy fan
If this is from a desktop model via the harddrive, try to vaccume it out, lots of greasy dust cant get into the fan and housing. I learned the hard way when my fan seized up and started smoking burned up. If you are not comfortable take it to a pc repair store. You can try and open it up by removing the screws and see if buildup is the problem, be weary if you have n e type of warranty it can be null and void if you mess around "inside" of it.

I have Acer Veriton 5800 desktop and often the noise get louder and faster and then it quieten down. Do you think it a fan?
Most desktops have fans fitted, especially in the power supply.
The bearings and not that good and become noisy when older. They are replaceable but a replacement power supply is far less effort.
Show the fans a plastic pipe from a vacyym cleaner from time to time, that will make the fans more efficient and reduce the wear and noise.
The hard drive can get noisy also, (if it is I would before it is too late), recommend replacing it.

buy your daughters laptop a laptop cooler with built in USB fans i had similiar problems with my wifes hewlett packard compaq cq bought a laptop cooler fixed the problem
(if you replaced the cooling fan why does'nt it run)

I've had my acer aspire (5315) laptop for over 2 years
Hello,

Sometimes, the CPU heat sink fan might get clogged up or faulty or stop spinning entirely. Make sure that the fan can turn properly.

IF YOU CAN, open the unit when the battery is disconnected and the power is not connected, then reseat the CPU Heat sink and re-apply a eye drop heat sink thermal paste onto the CPU. Reconnect and tighten everything again properly and adhere to the sequence in turning the screws back as per their numbering on the heat-sink

If the FAN has trouble spinning, doesn't turn at all or is noisy and runs irregular please replace the fan. The fan alone should cost about a few US $.

then you'll get the right one, but check the fan first.
because if it spins at all then it will just need cleaned
get a hoover to it or open it up & poke all the sh*@t out of grills then it will be able to breath again lol.

The fan on my acer aspire 5535 has started to become very noisy on start up and for about 15 minutes use before it then quietens ~ any thoughts
Soution 1 above is just a link to a bunch of adverts!!

The problem you are having is that the fan has come out of alignment or the bearing is broken. There are two potential solutions, the first is to replace the fan (should only cost around £5 and should be a standard fan or just try to realign it by hand. There is probably less work in just replacing it, trying to fix it could mean disassembly and reassembly of the laptop more than once

Aspire 5315 fan overworking. The laptop does not overheat, but the fan is always working and wastes ram memory
maybe the processor works too fast. it causes the fan to work too much. or, maybe you have a defective fan. contact acer support
