Check the obvious first
1. is your volume all the way down?
2. check if your volume is muted: on the speaker icon on the system tray click and check your volume is up and it's not muted
3. after checking 2. right click the speker and go into volume control, check your master volume and other items that may have the volume all the way down or muted and correct that and test
4 after checking 1, 2, 3 dlipbadgi suggestion is good: check you have drivers properly installed and your sound adapter is working properly. check sounds in the control pannel or check on device manager by going start>run >type devmgmt.msc then press enter.. check under sounds and check if you have a yellow "!" (drivers may not properly installed or adapter is misconfigured) or a "?" which could mean drivers are not installed. the go to toshiba website and with your model number look for the appropiate drivers for your pc and operating system.
Check if the drivers are installed .goto control panel> audio propertied and check if the drivers are installed and it is not grayed out..if driver is not installed then goto toshiba website ,find your model and you will be able to download the drivers for your laptop..............
