The output signal's colour system to this player is NTSC. Just look whether your TV is NTSC system compactable. Check whether the disc is recorded in any other colour system, like PAL or SECAM. These are the reasons for absence of colour to the picture. Check whether the colour control of the TV is at minimum.

Why GE TV plays color DVD/VCR tapes in black and white

Some inputs on tvs won't process the color signal. Try one of the other inputs. Mine does the same. If u have already used the working ones on something else, U will need a switch to select one or the other available at Radio Shack if u can find one.

Alba dvd/tv combo playing dvd's in black and white

There are a couple of things you could try with this. One, is to make sure that the video input is connected properly. The second would be to make sure that the DVD that played in black and white automatically changed your settings to PAL rather than NTSC

you might have a bad cable just because you get a great picture but no color.i would exchange the cable where you bought it and try another one.

hey lindalu if you and i put our tv's together we might have one whole working tv/vcr/dvd combo that plays in color! Seriously though, i feel your pain. RCA i'm not impressed.
