Make sure you connected all the plug wires in tight and the pc flat ribbon wires to the top of the lcd panel (which has a flip up connection on the lcd plug side that has to be pulled up with your thumb nail and hold the ribbon wire in all the way as you push the connection down to connect it.) When you power the tv on look at each ccfl lamp and see if one is dim or not as bright or has a pink color to it. I had a second lamp on my tv that was bad and had a pink color but lite up and it kicked the power off like your tv is doing. After I replaced it the tv worked find. For some reason these tv`s will get a bad ccfl lamp from time to time. You might buy another ccfl lamp and remove each lamp one at a time and put the new lamp in it starting at the top and going down checking all 10 lamps one at a time this way you will find the bad one. If the tv still will not power on then I would replace the power supply board and the tv should work then. If you need to buy the power supply board go to partsstore.com and put your model # in the search to get the part #. If you need help finding the part # let me know and I will try to help you fine it. After you find the part # you might find a good or new power supply board on Ebay.com at a lower cost. I bought a spare new power supply board on Ebay.com for near nothing for my tv.

The LCD screen on my Gateway M-6317 is dim. How

Press and hold the 'FN' key and tap the key that has the picture of a sun and an up arrow (or some other similar picture that dictates brightness - there should be two different keys that affect brightness one to increase and the other to decrease). Once you have the brightness set to your liking quit tapping the 'brightness' key and release the 'fn' key

My brightness is very low. I can't see anything

This could be a faulty CCFL lamp.
To determine if you have a LCD screen, inverter or video card problem, read this and follow these instructions.
Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
