SOURCE: I have universal 150,00 btu/hr and it wont ignite,

You may have a bad transformer that sends the electricity to the spark plug. Have you tried a new plug?

Smokey heater

Smokey, stinky torpedo heaters are often due to water in the tank. Ignition is from a standard spark plug.

Can we relight the pilot manually or do we need an electronic lighter? Ours appears to have gone out. Also please verify that what we're looking at IS the pilot light! Thank you!

if it is a permant pilot then you can light it manually , if is a hot surface ignitor then you will have to replace it , some electronic ignition has to be replaced , as it self lights .

Hope this helps you

Runs for 2 minutes well then shuts off and smokes - a 50,000 btu serial #7581 - fairly old

I would suggest calling Portable Heater Parts at 1-800-362-6951, you will need your model number and a description of the problem and talk to their technical service department for assistance and to order replacements parts for this unit. Let me know if you need more assistance.

Coleman furnace wont fire

Check inside the door panel next to the wiring schematic, you should find the diagnostic codes. Look up 7 blinks. This should narrow down the problem. ( It sounds like a bad hot surface ignitor).
Good luck.....

Ignition failure. Relatively new furnace - under 5 years old.

You can replace a hot surface ignitor if you are careful not to touch the silicon surface. The oil from your hand may cause the ignitor to fail. make sure to turn off electric supply before attempting. You will probably need an OEM (from a coleman dealer) ignitor.

Usually best to bring the old one with you to make sure you get the right one with the right wire terminals. Or you can wire nut a new one to the old terminals. Could also be a dirty flame sense rod.
Hope this helps.

Reddy heat/scheu kerosene space heater no ignition

Typical kero heater uses either a spark ignition or a hot surface. The hot surface igniter is very fragile. A small bump may break the elements. Flame is detected by a photocell, signal is sent to the lockout relay board. Change the igniter costs about 50 bucks.
