Color printing My printer is not printing color correctly. When checking in Maintenance, there is no cyan on the second line showing at all. The rest of the colors are lined.

The printhead has either become too clogged to flush out with with the internal cleaning operation (which uses a LOT of ink), OR, the nozzles are not firing. If after several cleaning operations there is still no significant improvement, you will need to replace the print head. I see this frequently with Canon and Epson, and Brother inkjet printers. Usually, it is due to leaving the printer idle for too long, or removing a cartridge and not replacing it right away. The air gets to the residual puddle of ink in the head and dries it. Also, using compatible or refilled cartridges can risk clogging because the ink formula is not an exact copy of the genuine Canon formula. I recommend using only new Canon carts for replacement, and do not mix Canon with non-Canon carts.

You can find the replacement print head by Google searching "MP830 print head". Prices can vary from around $70 - $90. Changing it out is fairly simple. You only need to lift a lever that holds the head in place. Make certain that it is squarely seated, and then run a few pages of a color document, or do a couple of standard cleaning operations to "prime" the head.

Make sure the hed is NEW and not used or "refurbished". Here is one source on eBay that sells it for $78.00:

Welcome to FixYa!
Solution 1. You might want to check the ink levels of your printer. One of the ink color might be out. Your printer uses the C,M,Y (one cartridge) and K (another cartridge). The printer mixes this colors (C,M,Y,K = cyan, magenta, yellow and pink) to produce the right colors including black.
Solution 2. Please do a printer head cleaning. You can do it using your printers software maintenance option.
Thank you for using FixYa.Have a great day.

My HPLJ3500 Color Printer wont print black even tho we just put in a new cartridge. Prints magenta, cyan, yellow, but no black. HELP!

Run the PQ troubleshooting diagnostic.
See if the black is printing.
If not, run the Disable Cartridge check. This will allow you print with only one cartridge in the printer. Take out all the cartridges. Put the black in another slot and put the cyan in the black slot(the top). Print the config page. If the black is printing, is the cyan printing. If black isn't printing the cartridge is bad. If black is printing and cyan isn't something is wrong with the printer. If they are both printing put them back in the correct locations along with the other two colors. It isn't the printer.

Two problems: 1) I have had to replace the cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks many different times and it seems like very often too, but I have NEVER had to replace the light cyan or light magenta...

If your documents look good when they are printed then the printer is working just fine and you dont have to be concerned about the ink use.

If the printer was not using the other cartridges correctly, then you would see areas that were missing color or were the wrong color when you tried to print. If the ink on a cartridge was not flowing freely the printer would stop printing and display error codes until the problem was corrected.

Being these things are not happening, I think it is safe to assume that it is working properly.

To correct the problem with the black line on the side, try cleaning your print heads and using the maintenance features on your printer. To access these features find the "menu" button on the printer and push it. Then scroll the features displayed by using the arrow keys on the printer until you see "maintenance". Then push the "ok" or "enter" button on the printer and continue using the arrow keys to find the cleaning options for print heads. Follow the instructions for cleaning the print heads and repeat the process a second time for good measures.

Regular maintenance of the printer should eliminate the black line problem and provide better printing results.

Hp clj 5550 not printing cyan

Check the black cover on the pick up assembly under the cyan cartridge. If it is only a fraction too high cyan will not print. Make sure it is clipped in place correctly.

I850 Color Bubble Jet Printer/Serial No. FBHP20999 When I print. I have vertical lines 1/8'' across the complete page. (Cyan). HELP!!

In your print driver there is the option (nder Maintenance) to clean the heads. Run this and then run a test print. It should remove the lines. If it doesn't run again. If you haven't used the printer in a while it may take several cleanings to correct. If after 4 or 5 cleans, the problem still exists, buy a new cartridge; your current one is dead (even though the other colours may be fine).

Colors are not printing out true.

I replaced the Office Max ink substitute with an original Canon ink. This did not help. I decided this problem most probably had to be a printer head issue, so I gave up and bought a new printer instead.

Skewed printing

Most probably you have to do the Color Registration Settings and the Color Calibration.
The Color Registration will fix the fuzzy printing and the Color Calibration the way how the colors looks. The Color Calibration it is done automatically after each batch of 40 or 80 pages and if you need you can do a manual Color Calibration BUT THE COLOR REGISTRATION must be done manually.

Go to Menu->Others->Service->Color Registration and print a test chart. Will print a page and you have to read the alignment of some lines Cyan Magenta Yellow Black with some numbers. Check the Advanced user guide for details. Basically you have to read the number / letters of each color where 2 lines are matching. Then you can enter those numbers into the printer for each color.

If the Cyan only is off then will be easy ...
