My work around for this is to take the media card from the camera and put it into my computer to copy/paste directly to a photo file of my choice. I find it faster as well.

The M580 uses the KLIC-7006 or equivalent. Two sources are here and here.

Hello, Don't quite understand "getting locked on" do you mean jamming up ? Please add further details.

Remove the 4 gb card and turn power on, go into menu and scroll down until you find the section on picture deletion, erase all data in the internal memory, turn power off and install your memory card should be good to go.
