The vcr side of this unit is working perfectly but the dvd drawer will not open - not with the remote or manually. There is no disk in there...and I've unplugged it many times now. Any suggestions?

There is very likely a code that you can enter with your remote. The trick is finding out what that code is. I have the same problem and get the impression that is should not be so hard to find the code on line, which suggests Emerson does not want us to know it, but would prefer we buy a new tv. I will be contacting a tv repair service to see if they know what the code is.

On your dvd player press the preset and stop buttons at the same time. This will automatically switch progressive off.Good luck.

Place a disc in the tray with the label facing up. Let it try to read. If the disc is still oriented the same way after it fails, odds are 99 out of 100 the motor has failed....sorry, buy a new one if warrantee has run out.
