Have you performed the printer, scanenr self test from the all-in-one? if this test does not pass, it is possibly a hardware issue. Please refer HP's product manual for Officejet 6110 Allinone on how to perform a selftest on print,scan or fax functions. If the hardware test was successful, please post some more information that will be required for troubleshooting.

When printing from the microsoft word document, make sure the printer selected is right. By that, i mean the default printer selected in the printers icon under the control panel should be HP OfficeJet 6100 series and not HP OfficeJet 6100 fax.
So the reason why this message comes up " scanner failure ". is you are either selecting a wrong printer when printing from microsoft word document or probably the printer port is not selected right.
To check the printer port.
Click on start-->control panel-->printer & faxes-->right click on HP OfficeJet 6100 series--> select properties-->Select the top tab called ports-->
Check the ports selected here.
If you have a USB connected printer it should be your printer model with USB settings.
If you have a wireless connected printer it should be your printer model with wireless settings like IP address.
scanner failure is a hardawre problem. try to copy again and check if the scanner light is on. once the scanner light is not working then try to return your printer in the store that you have purchased it.
Sannaer glass is dirty:
Cleaning the scanner glass and white reference strip
Follow the steps below to clean the scanner glass and reference strip:
Remove any loose paper debris that may be present.
Carefully clean the white reference strip on the underside of the scanner cover (or top cover) with a clean, lint-free cloth, moistened lightly with isopropyl alcohol. Clean only the white plastic part on the scanner cover.
For those models that have a scanner glass, clean the scanner glass with a lint-free cloth, moistened lightly with glass cleaner. The HP Officejet K series and HP fax 1220 have a scanner opening instead of a scanner glass. Make sure that no debris is in the scanner opening. Use canned air to gently blow dust and debris from the scanner slot.
Replace all removed components and close the unit.
Plug the power cord back in and turn the unit back on.
Make a copy to verify the lines are not present. If lines are still present and there is nothing visible on either the scanner glass or the reference strip, the unit will require service.

Hi, This solution is for "older" R-series All-in-One's but it may be your solution as well. You may be experiencing a situation in AllN1's called "SCANNER SYSTEM FAILURE" where the scanner bulb may be weaker than it appears by naked sight and doesn't meet system power requirements to "pass" as good to go and thereby is passing to the printer a failure condition. In the R-Series AllN1's the ultimate solution was a bulb replacement. Which surprisingly is not as intimidating as it may sound if you might want to tackle the problem on a do it yourself basis. I can give you more details if you would like. I think you can respond to this Solution; I am new to this forum. If you can not respond directly my email address is [email protected].
