Polaroid A500 digital camera pressed ON button, nothing happened with new AA batteries and SD card
I pressed my Polaroid A500 digital camera ON button, it did not turn on.
I have 2 new AA batteries on it also with my SD card. I had used this camera for a couple of years and it was okay. Please advise.

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.
It is possible that there is a small amount of corrosion on the contacts in the camera. Use the eraser end of a common pencil to clean these contacts. Also, make sure you are using the correct batteries. It shows here that you have the polaroid i830. this camera uses two AA batteries:
Open the battery door, located on the underside of the camera (use your thumb to slide the door outwards). Install the two AA batteries into the battery bay. Install the SD card into the slot located next to the battery bay. Close the battery door.
Step2Press the power button located on top of the camera. Locate the "Playback" button on the rear of the camera, under the "W" button; this button switches the camera between "Capture" and "Playback" modes. Set the camera to "Capture" mode.
Step3Press the button on the bottom right of the rear of the camera to open the mode selection window. Use the navigation buttons to select "Still Image" mode. Press the button labeled "Set Disp" to confirm your selection.
this is the problem with this unit. you need to press it half-way to set the auto-focus and after you hear a beep then its ready to go. this thing usually happen when the battery goes down low. even though the charge battery warning is still not shown. Remember that is only uses 2 double AA battery unlike most of the unit of the same size which has 4 double AA.
