Problem: The seal design on the washer traps water causing mildew to grow.
Solution:
If
the door gasket has a small hole at the six o'clock position--it is
clogged with soap scum. Use compressed air to blow this hole clear. This allows water to drain back into the tub If there's no hole--this is an older model LG which did not have this upgrade Wiping
the door gasket with a rag after the LAST cycle of the day helps
prevent debris from accumulating. Some consumers add (1) teaspoon of
bleach to a spray bottle with water--and spray the older type gaskets
after the final laundry load finished--to keep the gasket clean.
If you mean in the bottom of the gasket between the drum and the door the hole is to allow water to drain from the gasket to prevent standing water which will smell .
it is very hard to get the ring on front load washers, it is much easier to remove the top. bottom and the front control panel then the door and support panel. now you have access. some times you have to remove the counter weight in some models before putting on the ring. if you can do it without removing these items you are very very good.
it has a fine ring clamp. find it and check it if its broke. they don't normally comes off easily. you will need a phillip screw driver to tighten it. unloosed it first, put the ring inside the gasket, then force the gasket gently to the metal round frame, then tighten the screw. i hope i was able to solve your problem. tnx
