SOURCE: Brother HL-5240 drum light flashing

Normally clearing the drum count the machine has to be on open front cover as if to change the drum press and hold the button in for about 10 second then release and shut the door. This should reset the count if not please get back to me and I'll check the service manual to see if anything in that.

Thanks J

SOURCE: Paper jam with Brother HL-2030 laser printer

Being a retired electronics technician, I located and downloaded a copy of the service manual. Then proceeded to hunt for the reason why the Paper LED was staying on. I put the printer into the Production diagnoses mode, then by process of alimination opened and closed each panel and cheack each sensor switch one at a time. At which time it was apparent the problem was the rear door sensor. So I started to disassemble the printer getting instructions from the Service manaul, as most electronic equipement there is a sequence process to accompliah this. and once I found that the method of the rear door sensor operated I found the bracket was not in the right position. I put the sensor bar back into it's proper position and put the printer back to normal opperateing mode, I found my problem was solved. So I reassembled the unit and plugged it back into the compter ran a couple of test sheets and cleaned and aligned the printer head(s) made a few adjustment and everything was back to normal.
I must say that locating the Service Manual was a feat, but worth every cent I paid for it which was $9 USD. Personally i think all service manuals should be available for all Brother products for a fee, then a large number of problems can be fixed by the owners without much bother to Brother.
I ahve two of these printers and would still purchase a Brother colour printers, my next purchase is going to be a Brother color laser printer. Out of all the printers i've used on my computers I like the brother the best.

thin sensor (looks like steel colour ) is not in the proper position.it is in the back side of the printer to the lower side where you feed the paper. irepair this problems regularly for my customers. you can do it your self it is very easy.just make your sensor move up and down properly it should not be blocked somewhere.rate this solution as fixya to encourage us to solve more and more problems like yours.good luck.

OK figured out the sequence to resolve this error:

power off unit
unplug power cable for 1 minute
reset the power cable
open front door
press and hold the reset button under the lights
turn the power on
printer should then be reset

My lamp "paper" blinkikg brother hl-2030

Remove the Toner Drum unit and look for a little blue tab. Slide it back and forth a couple of times to clean a corona wire and see if that helps. If the problem still exists, you may try this 2nd option.

> the front door. There is something wrong with the front door, or the mechanisms that signal that it is closed. Closing the front door (the one that you open to pull out the toner and drum) all the way to where it snaps into place then the paper light flashes red. However closing the front door to the point where the "ready" light comes on (don't snap the door into place, just close it and let it rest in place without snapping it closed) and the printer prints fine, pulls paper from the tray and prints like it should.

So give it a try, don't snap the front door all the way closed to where it snaps closed, just close the door to where it's resting closed to where the ready light comes on and see if this helps you.

How do i add toner to my hl 2030 brother printer ?

Hello,

You don't "add" toner, you have to replace the cartridge. You can see it by clicking on this link:

HL-2030 Toner

You can refer to the User Guide for instructions. here is a link to it:

HL-2000 Series User Guide

Replacing the toner is covered in Chapter 5.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Brother HL-2030 continually prints test pages

disconnect the printer from your pc and clear out all print jobs... leave it on and let it sit for a day... if no test page prints then the problem is your pc... if it starts printing like crazy then reset it via page 54 of the user guide if it still prints like crazy with the network cable or usb cable disconnected then you need to call brothers tech support but more than likely it shouldn't do anything... if this is the case... the problem is your pc... or your server...

HL-2030 printer won`t print labels with Word 2007

If it's the same as my Hl-5250DN, you have to use MP Tray mode. The MP (multi-purpose) tray is cleverly hidden on the front of my printer.

Paper light flashes red...

I found just doing this one simple thing sorted the problem.

First take off the front cover. Pull the tabs on the side. Pull out the big toner and cartridge. Do you see the blue tab on the top shaped like an arrow/triangle? Slide the tab from right to left - reinsert toner close door.
Hope it works for you
