You must always check the component before it is replaced blindly. Use a multimeter to check the resisitance of the old element. If there is continuity then the element had not failed but it can be fault from the controller unit or the contacts- relay.
You need to trace the voltage feed to the element to confirm where the loss or break of voltage has come due to the suspected component starting from the controller unit.

Dishwasher stopped heating. PCB is fine with no signs of damage. Is there a resettable thermostat or is it a bung water heater?

Our Asko 1885 Dishwasher is stuck in drying mode

Check if the other functions of the dishwasher are OK such us when filling, draining or the heating element heats up properly. The control board may have detected some errors and it is not proceeding. You may have to have the parts involved in the faulty function checked out such as the valves for the drain and the fill if your machine is not filling or draining properly or filters blocked. Check the heating element and inspect the assembly for burns especially on the relays. The machine may not be heating correctly that is why it is not finishing the cycle. If these parts checks out OK, you may want to have the control board checked out or replaced.

Blinking Clean light in Whirpool dishwasher

Control is programmed to stop running and not allow any further cycles if it detects a water heating problem (no temperature increase detected in heated Main Wash on 3 consecutive cycles). Control blinks the Clean LED 7 times repeatedly and disables the Start/Resume key until cleared. Running Diagnostics clears the control and allows it to operate again. The water heating problem must be fixed or the control will stop running again. See potential causes below. Heater circuit problem: ■ Open in heater. ■ Open connection or component in heater circuit. ■ Faulty heater drive circuit on control. 1. Check operation of heater in Diagnostics cycle. 2. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power. 3. Check resistance of heater and all components and connections in the water heating circuit or heat dry circuit.
