The compressor needs to be running. Also you need freon charging guages and a pressure temp chart to tell how much you need to add.
If your not sure of anything i said here have a service person do this. You take a risk of damaging the unit and yourself.

Hello, the compressor needs to be running and you will add through the low pressure side of the system with a manifold gauge. But just as mpcheesman1 said if you are unsure or do not feel comfortable doing this have a service person do it.

How do i add refrigerant to a amcor kf900e portable air conditioner"

The compressor picks up the gas that is bringing the heat removed from the house to be compressed to liquid and cooled in the condenser coil When running the compressor is very hot. When the freon is low the compressor will be cooler because it doesn't have as much heat to compress. To add freon you must add a service valve to the low pressure line.

What do I do when I change A/C compressor on 2001 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer

No, don't add any Freon before changing out compressor.

Unfortunately, due to the multiple places where leaks can occur, and the concern of releasing Freon into the atmosphere when opening up an air conditioning system, this work SHOULD be done by qualified personnel with appropriate tools. Auto air conditioning is NOT in the realm of "Do It Yourself" any longer.

It would be best if, after installing the new compressor, you took the vehicle to an auto center that services auto air conditioners. They can draw a vacuum into the system before filling the system with Freon. This will give you the best fill with Freon and will reduce and/or eliminate condensation in the system.

Also, if you're opening the system to air anyway, to change the compressor, you should consider changing the drier in the air conditioner line as well.

2003 jeep liberty air conditioning oil capacity

If the compressor is dry of oil (new compressors will either be shipped with or without oil) and you need to add oil you can never go wrong by adding three ounces. Once the compressor is installed turn it by hand several times. Then install the belt and add freon.

Kia rio 2002 air conditioning problems, Hi, currently my air conditioning just doesn't start at all, it was working properly and suddenly witout a warning it' just stopped working. It does not work...

If the AC compressor is kicking in and out then you are probably low on freon. If the Compressor isn't kicking in at all then the problem could be a fuse or relay in the Power distribution box or the fuse in the interior of the car. If the fuse and relays are good then the problem could be a bad clutch on the compressor or a bad compressor itself. If the compressor is kicking in and out then get a freon refill can from Walmart or an Auto parts store and add freon to the system until the compressor kicks in continuously.

I have central air and I was wondering how do you put freon in it because its not blowing out cool air

Is the compressor starting? On the outdoor unit you will see a large copper pipe and a small copper pipe. Is the larger of the two cold to the touch? wet? Just because a central air system is not blowing cool air does not mean it needs freon. If you have clogged filters it cannot do an air exchange. So, I would recommend checking the easiest things first before adding Freon. Most people make the mistake of adding Freon and overcharge their system. In a low load situation you can slug the compressor with liquid and your system is ruined. If you do have to add Freon it indicates that you have a leak. An AC System is a closed system and if it is working properly you should not have to add Freon.

My air condition is not working

first check your fuses and any relays sometimes you have multible relays that are the same in a fuse box that you can switch around but i would bet you have a leak either in your compressor or in your line if the clutch is not kicking on and off or running all the time when you turn it on thats because your freon has leaked out the system is sealed freon does not go bad if there is no pressure in the system it will just blow warm air your question is vague so if your blower is not blowing bad blower motor or a fuse if warm not getting cold your system has a leak if you have not broke the system you can try stop leak 2 cans to seal a leaky compressor compressor could be bad if it wont spin noisy clutch could be bad need new compressor but if a leak after stop leak add the right amount or r-134a 2 to 3 cans if the compressor kicks on on the first can of stop leak or freon your system did leak down and you hope the stop leak fixes it but first check all your lines are tight and that the freon is not leaking from the high or low pressure ports the valve can leak sometimes make sure your caps are on take some spit after you add freon back into your system see if your spit blows a bubble if it does replace or tighten the valve. a few things to check start with power fuses then add a can of freon if you have power now clutch engagement if you add and kicks on there is the reason a leaky system it will all leak back out in a day or several days... thats why you can add the stop leak things you can try or take it to the shop and pay someone some $$$$$

Adding freon to my central air

Well duprees, first you got to have the right instrumentation for charge freon to a a/c system, now, the charge line is the thick line, wich it means the suction line, the colder line, or the most robust line on the compressor.
Then, the system uses freon 22, the right charge, with the system on and the compressor running is 68.5 to 70 psi.
This should give to you about 40 degrees(farenheit) at the evaporator, the panel that gets cold in the system.
This pressure should be at the low side, meaning thicker line in the compressor unit.
Hope this help you......

Good luck.......
