It seems the Basic Input Output System (BIOS) settings have been changed on this computer.
This type of error message occurs when the computer is trying to seek a network device to boot from, or is set to boot from a removable disc or other media that have bootable files stored on them that the BIOS requires prompting or selection for in order to proceed to the boot stage.
First check that there is no disc in the Optical (CD/DVD) Drive -> if there is remove it -> restart the computer by pressing and holding down the Control (Ctrl) and Alternate Value (Alt) keys 2 fingers of your left hand -> press the Delete (Del) key with your right hand -> release all 3 keys -> tap either the Del or the Function 2 (F2) key 2-3 times as the first white writing appears on the black background of the screen after powering up -> the (Power On Self Test (POST) procedure will then redirect to BIOS Settings (often referred to as Setup) -> use the keyboard arrows to navigate to Set Default Values -> press the F10 key -> press y for yes or Enter for OK -> test the boot process again.
If the computer still does not boot properly repeat the above steps to enter the BIOS Settings/Setup again -> use the keyboard arrows to navigate to Boot Menu -> arrow down to Boot Device Order -> look at the BIOS Control Options at the bottom or side of the window to find the appropriate control keys for changing the order of the boot devices (often the + and - keys, the F5 and F6 keys, the Page Up [PgUp] or Page Down [PgDn] keys -> move/promote the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) to the First Boot Device position -> press F10 -> y for yes or press Enter for OK -> test the boot process again.

This error message could be a faulty hard disk or a faulty disk controller.
Reseat the hard disk to see if the problem is fixed.
If not go into the BIOS settings and check if the BIOS can detect the hard disk.
If the hard disk is not detected then remove the hard disk and connect it to an USB hard disk adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. If the this computer cannot detect it as an external hard drive then the hard drive is faulty. Then the Acer needs a replacement hard disk and Windows installed together with the laptop's device drivers and programs etc.
