Check the bolts that hold the electric starter to the housing, if loose tighten them, if they are ok, try to get some lubricant on the shaft of the starter, the bendix spring may be stuck....
Where would I locate the shaft of the starter? I have it taken apart as I bought the drive starter to replace. Not sure where that's located. It is in the box where the cord plug is?Where would I locate the shaft of the starter? I have it taken apart as I bought the drive starter to replace. Not sure where that's located. It's just a simple AC pronged piece. You can buy the actual piece from Sears OR you can buy an Electric Line-cord and wire it into teh plastic box where the Push button 'Start ' switch is.
Check the crankcase and make sure it has oil. It sounds like the engine is frozen. If its brand new, take it back to Sears and have them start it for you.
Sounds like a serious flooding issue, perhaps due to having blower on its side, take out spark plug and place plastic bag over and try pulling over, be careful that it doesn't spark and ignite any fuel expelled out of cylinder.
if that is the case pull over several times blow off plug and try again, fuel might be trapped in muffler so be aware of spray, ignition.
If it doesn't pull over with the plug removed take it back as a valve might be sprung.
i have a riding mower and i get that problem sometimes and what i do to fix it is i take a metal pole and put against the motor and gear on the starter and push when it moves i turn the key and that normally fixes it.
Change the spark plug being sure to set the spark plug gap as recommended in the owner's manual. Then clean or change the air filter. Finally use new high test gasoline. good luck.
