I have been quilting with a walking foot on my Bernina Artista 630. It was going great and the quilting was beautiful but the pressure foot started going down on its own and won't come back up. I had to lift it up manually but when I start sewing, it goes back down again. What do I do?
SOURCE: stitches
Usually a walking foot is for straight forward stitching only.It keeps the many layers from shifting for you. The "hand-look" quilting takes a couple stitches forward then one back. If you look close, you will see about every other stitch is thicker and stands out more.

My troubleshooting would involve taking it in to a Bernina certified technician as it would involve pulling off the covers of your machine for a look. Often this can be the cause of overheating due to high levels of lint build up from people using compressed air to blow out their machine (compressed air is notorius for blowing lint into other areas of the machine) I have also seen the odd plug end swell because customers use harsh cleaning products and it will then not seat properly.
SOURCE: Machine slows down, stops, starts again. Foot control problem?
Yes it does sound like a faulty foot control. The power cord is probably fine, you just need the controller. Ebay is a good source for parts.

Take the machine to an independent dealer and let him show you it works before you buy it.

The arm on the walking foot needs to be above the needle clamp to be lifted as the needle moves.
