If your compressor is shorted to ground then you need a new compressor. if you need help finding what compressor part# you need let me know. The external overload is there to protect the compressor from overheating, but if it doesnt work there is no protection causing compressor to possibly short to ground.

Coca cola true glass door merchandising cooler (refrigerator) turned warm over night. I replaces the relay and capacitor and have eliminated those as possible causes. I assume it must be the compressor as...

Dusty compressor won't hurt. Dirty condensing coil can burn out the compressor. Supco makes a 3 n 1 start kit with very easy instructions, be sure to remove cap and external overload, this may kick start the compressor. If this fails then your compressor is bad, clicking inside is the overload. If you have the proper tools, go for replacement. Vacuum pump, gauges, scale to weigh in the ounces of 134a listed on the model number label, new liquid filter is a must, access port for low side if not present etc, etc. good luck.

Why overload protector always cutting off and on?

Hi,
The overload opens to protect the compressor. It operates in relation the internal or external temp of the compressor, not pressure. With this being said, is or has the compressor ran hot or in a location where temperature increase is possible? I installed a unit in my work van and had a similar issue. I even know better, so in order to control heat I have to install a fan to cool down the compressor. To help you the issue is heat, cooling the compressor will be the only fix if you didn't already do the damage to the compressor. Good Luck

My True Refrigerator T-72 is not working. The compressor runs for about 3 seconds and shuts downn.

Supco has a three in one start kit that can help the compressor to run longer. Although the Freon circulatory system may be clogged and the compressor is overheating internally tripping the thermal overload.

Samsung model RS20NCSW - the freezer keeps switching itself off

Check to see if your electricity power line is good.
A relay or overload protection already failed to protect the compressor.
Both of that parts is located the compressor with a cover, try to look for it and check it.
Thanks for asking.

Compressor not starting up just clicking in and out

The compressor, when unable to start goes off on overload, when the overload cools, the compressor tries to start again. A"hard start kit " which is a relay, capacitor and overload can be tried to get the compressor running

Refrigerator is not cooling. Compressor comes on than off after 20-30 seconds

you need to replace the ptc overload relay replaced on the compressor as this component is getting weak and is cutting out,it uses temperature vs. heat to protect the compressor from a no start or when the compressor cant operate on the run windings and overheats, then this ptc overload relay cuts out the compressor to protect it,it will keep trying to start the compressor till the ptc burns out,it just unplugs off the compressor and a new replacement plugs back in

How to remove start/run components on a mgdm-07 cu. ft refrigerator

Remove lower back cardboard panel (some units do not have this). With the unit unplugged locate the compressor and remove spring clip on terminal cover. Remove wires from the compressor terminals noting where each one goes. Remove "Overload" (round black disc) from the line cord (other end of overload was connected to compressor. The other side of the power cord is connected to the "Main" or run terminal of the relay (usually plugs into compressor pins).

The three prong relay connector on the compressor on my Haier compact does not have the common, start and run marked. how do I figure out which is common and run?

Tecumseh terminal pins always thought of
in the order: Common, Start, Run. To identify the
terminal pins, we read the order exactly as we would
read a book: That is, we start at the top left hand
corner and read across the first “line” from left to
right. We then drop down to the second line starting
at the left and read across. Some compressor models
have terminal pin identification embossed on the
protective terminal cover.
The common will go to the external overload protector. The run will be connected to the power side of the relay.
Hope this helps.

Compressor won't kick on

Good day,
First step is to check to see if there is power getting to the compressor. If not you'll need to back up and find where the power was lost. Some models have a low pressure cut out pressure switch. One possibility.
Second, if power is at the compressor then you'll need to check the protective overload, start relay, and start/run capacitor if it uses one.
If everything checks out, using an ohm meter check the motor windings. They may be open ( no continuity) bad compressor.

Hello my GE profile is making a clicking sound. and is not cooling

That id the compressor external overload. You need to unplug and let the compressor cool. It's possible a defective start relay, start capacitor and the external overload needs replaced. We may also need to look at a few other things, But for now unplug the refrigerator to prevent damage to the compressor. Sea Breeze
