Dropped Connections using SMCWBR14-N4

Running Gateway to Vonage to SMCWBR14S-N4, Issue is, 4 to 6 times per day we are resetting the SMC to re-establish connectivity. Without the Vonage first, still hitting reset at least once or twice per day. When connectivity drops, it drops for 3 hardlined desktops and all wireless devices in the home. I can't tell if it's a setting in the SMC causing the issue (or the SMC going out) or if it's the Vonage trying to assign a new IP address every few hours. Anyone with some experience with this, any help appreciated. Thanks.

1. check with you ISP to get a line condition it could be a physical issue at the drop if it is a DSL line. If it is a cable connection it could be what is called a collision effect.
2. If you have your unit by any electronics or if your location of your router is near a device that will interfere with the signal this could be the issue.
3. Check with Vonage and see if there is an IP conflict give them the experience that you have with all details and have them check there server. this could be the issue. There server could be dropping packets due to capacity overload or a major switch issue.
4. check the manufacturers website for firmware updates for you router.

How to install it

You have to attach router to pc/laptop with usb cable [orange lead] & then follow instructions on screen....you will need to set up password etc but its pretty straight forward. If you do have problems phone their helpline & they guide you through it, but use landline as calls are not often free, rather than ur moby :)

Op de SMCWBR14-G2 sttat geen reset toets op. Hoe kan ik deze router dan resetten?

Probeer:

Well, once reset you will need to login to the interface and resetup all the connection information. You can do that from the WEB interface just logon and reset. No special software (except a web browser) is needed.
I think the SMC default address is http://192.168.2.1 just log on and set it up. Resetting just restores the factory defaults, it does not erase the system.

Rarely does a router need software on a computer. Even the linksys that have a big sticker USE CD FIRST -- its only there for those who don't understand routers!
