Canon G6 images have pink outline

My 3 year old Canon Powershot G6 recently started showing bright pink outlines on pictures. Problem occurs randomly on indoors and outdoor shots, with or without flash. Sometime the pink lines will outline a subject, othertimes they appear at ranom locations. Canon recommends either returning it for $139 plus parts or replacing it. Has anyone else experianced this?

A pink hue on pictures usually points to a CCD failure.

I have a Canon Powershot A60. Has always worked well until recently my photos contain a green fluorescent like outline on some of the items in my picture.Looks like stalactites at times. Help!!

You've been pretty lucky. :)
I had an A75, loved it!
It lasted me about 4 years before I started to have problems. Sadly, at the time this wasn't publicised, so I wasn't aware of any free repairs.

Please take a look here, and see if there is a remedy available for your camera.

Picture distorted with images and outlines

Unfortunately this is an unrepairable problem called screen burn.

This happens commonly with old displays and can only be fixed by replacement.

More information can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_burn-in

The display screen is blocked. The lens is open. Can see outline of blockage

If Canon A70 camera shows previously taken/ stored pictures properly in playback mode and does not show live view in LCD in camera mode to take fresh pictures then it is ccd imager chip failure problem and ccd imager chip will be replaced.
Canon offers free of cost repair for A70 for ccd imager failure problem. Click Canon CCD Imager Advisory for details.

Negative type images in pink & lime green

I had the same problem....turned out it was the "lvds" cable that runs from the mainboard to the lcd controller board. Simply remove the tape that holds it to the back of the backlight housing and also remove the foil shielding tape from the connector on the lcd controller board.

no its not the flash, it is the CCD. The replacement of the CCD will solve the problem.
