If the pickup in the guitar suddenly stops working - then most likely there is a solder connection that has come loose. If you can get a small dental mirror, you may be able to look through the F-Hole on the guitar and spot the loose wire. The tricky part with a Sheraton is the way the hollowbody is constructed doesn't allow you to work on the electronics as easily as say a Fender Strat.

The only way to fix this would be to carefully remove the electronics and re-solder the bad connection. You should only do this if you are very comfortable with soldering.

Since the bridge pickup fails, yet the neck pickup works, you can eliminate about 1/2 of the problem. You can start by examining the wires that come off of the bridge pickup and follow them to the next connection point. You can also test wire continuity if you have a multi-meter to hook up to the wire - to check that the actual wire is not broken in the middle. (Broken wires on the inside of the guitar would be rare - more likely it will be an obvious solder joint that has come loose.)

If you have a local mom and pop music shop nearby - you may be able to take your guitar in for a free diagnostic - but that depends on the shop.

Good luck! Hope my information has helped you figure out a path to get it working again!

Installed EMG 57/66 into and Ibanez PS 10-2. Plugged all wires as shown in the instructions. Had to install a longer stereo jack plug. Now I only get bridge pickup. Cannot get neck pickup to work.

It calls for a stereo input jack? I'm not sure but I think It is probably calling for a 1/4 unbalanced input jack , keeps your signal mono. so if you are only getting the bridge pickup. You might check your position switch. and or your lead pick up. simply take the designated wire from the lead pick up and hook it up where your bridge position pick up is connected. (disconnect that first) if you get sound, then it just may be your switch. if you get nothing? check to make sure you have your ground correct and he lead wire correct. If these are active pick ups? you''ll need a battery source. if stil get nothing. your pick up may be bad.Thats a reads digest troubleshooting explanation. check your basics first. good luck

Wiring change from Fender

Standard J-Bass wiring is parallel. Not series.

To run the pickups in series, the ground of one pickup would feed into the hot of the next. That's not what comes from the factory.

Soldering barcus berry bridge pickup

Solder the white wire to the shortest terminal and the ground/exposed wire to the outer/largest/ground terminal.

I have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Silverburst, and it's pretty new and has worked great until now. It seems my bridge pickup lost tone and volume for some reason. My volume and tone knobs are cranked...

Need more info: 1- does the volume control still change the level? 2-Does tone control still change the tone? 3- What happens when in the center position on pickup select switch? Put pickup switch in center position (both pickups active). Then take a coin and tap on the pickups. Does bridge pickup sound lower? Lastly remove rear electronics cover and inspect all wiring for something loose or disconnected.

I'm trying to wire passive pickups in my Schecter Tempest Hellraiser. The problem I'm having, is that there is no way to ground everything to the bridge. My pickups' wiring diagram (and my other guitars)...

If you have a metal bridge, then install a jumper from a convenient point to the rest of the grounds. These grounds help reduce hum pickup. If the guitar is working with no hum while using and handling it, don't sweat grounding the bridge... The purpose is REALLY to ground the strings which is where you will likely pick up hum when you touch them... you are an "antenna" picking up the noise from all the power lines, etc around you.

I have an Ibanez Acoustic Electric 5AEQ45F. The top part of the pick up became disconnected. One wire, a white one with a female connection, became disconnected and I cannot find where to reconnect. Please...

Realize that there is a white pickup that looks like a wire that ITSELF is the pickup which goes under the bridge. It works like a capacitive mic. One end will be unconnected. This lays in the groove under the bridge.

I am looking for a manual (if there is one) for the Epiphone Sheraton II. I need to know which knobs do what (and also the three way switch) on the guitar. The guitar came with no manual!!

Most likely it is wired like most Gibsons. The volume knobs are the two at the neck end, the tones are the two nearest the rear. The lower two are volume and tone for the bridge pickup, the upper two are for neck pickup. Switch down is bridge or lead pickup, switch up is for neck or rythym pickup, and centre position is both pickups one, where all knobs can be used together.

I need to know how the five way switch works. I don't know which switch position turns on which pick ups.

In a guitar with 3 pickups a 5 way switch works like this. With the switch all the way forward( towards the tuning pegs) the pickup closest to the tuning pegs or end of the neck is completely on ( if your volume control is all the way on). The next position (moving away from the tuning pegs or neck) is a combination of the neck pickup and the middle pickup. The third position moving away from the neck is completely the middle pickup. The fourth position is a combination of the middle pickup and the bridge ( where the strings are fastened) and the fifth position is completely the bridge.

Epiphone BB King Lucille guitar treble pickup in mono mode

Realize that when you plug into the one jack it disconnects the fingerboard pickup from the mix.

DO NOT USE "stereo" cables as it is intended to use TWO MONO cables, one for each side of the stereo.

IF you plug into the one jack that will connect to the bridge pickup, it will disconnect the fingerboard pickup from the mix BUT leave the fingerboard on its own jack.
That same jack will have BOTH fingerboard and bridge pickups IF the second jack (bridge) is not plugged into.

This is according to the schematic. If you find that yours works backwards, then either the schematic is wrong OR your guitar pickups may be electrically swapped.
