Assuming the restore partition is intact, boot the machine and press and hold F10 and ALT at the same time. If the partition is intact, you should be brought to a restore menu and given the option to restore to factory settings. If this doesn't work, you may have corrupted the restore partition and will need disks to install an operating system. If you created Rescue Disks in Vista, simply load the 1st disk and reboot.

Acer aspire x3200 problem

sounds like Vista or Win 7. it usually meant that one of the 6 Registry Hive files was corrupted.(usually the "System" file, as it typically gets modified the most.)you don't say what ver windows you have, but when Vista or Win 7 detect Hard Drive errors, it will begin a CHKDSK /F on the boot disk, (without telling the user, of course...nice huh ?) This could easily take an hour depending on the amount of data on the disk.
Although it COULD be a virus, it is far more likely that some of the recently occupied sectors on the hard drive are bad or weak.

I recommend a CHKDSK /R be done on the boot drive. This is a more complete check of the drive (it will check all of the 'free space' as well,) and if it locates any 'bad' or inconsistent sectors, will mark them as Bad, and remove them from being used. That should be enough to halt future problems.....though this is no guarantee that more sectors will not go bad in the future.

My daughter lost her password for her netbook how do I rest it

Hello first of all what operating system is she using if windows xp then boot the machine in safe mode, chances are it came out the factory with no password on the hidden admin, after you boot into safe mode you will notice a new account you haven't not seen before call administrator. choose the admin and once in the account simply go to user accounts and remove her password. if you are running vista or windows 7 then this will not work for you the next option would require software I recommend hirens boot cd 10.6 here is the link bootcd download and extract the file, you need a archive program like winzip or winrar. the zip file wil contain an iso image of the disk that you will need to mount and burn to a disk would use damon tools which is also free. once you have created your boot disk you can now boot your daughters computer from the boot cd, once booted into hirens several tools with appear simply navigate to password tools and follow the step by step wizard that will remove the password in seconds.
hpe this helps please feel free to reply for more detailed support.

Acer Aspire 5610Z. Upgraded to Win 7. Screen resolution changes

Hello,

Your laptop was not designed to run windows 7 or be compatible with it. It may run fine with windows 7 but issues might come up sooner or later like the one you're experiencing.

[EXPERIMENTAL]
Download both of these (as I don't know which one of thsese two your laptop needs). Keep mind that doing the following could render your system inoperable and use at own risk. When downloaded, extract ZIP , open desired folder and find SETUP or INSTALL program. Right click and choose properties, then navigate to compatibility mode, then select windows Vista from the menu. Then apply changes, ok and close window and attempt to start.
