Dell studio 1535 is not booting up.

When powered up, the laptop does not boot, instead the volume buttons on the strip above the keyboard flash on and of but the laptop remains like this, it will not turn on. Occasionally it will boot up normally but can not work for weeks at a time.

Does it display anything on your laptop screen. To me it seems like your laptop screen is malfuncting.
Try connecting a second screen to your laptop, see if it displays something

SOURCE: DELL STUDIO 1535 WILL NOT BOOT UP ERROR CODE 0146

That is a bad hard drive or sector in hard drive code. Try and run an FDISK on the drive or reformat the drive with your factory restore disk. If you are unable to format the hard drive replace it with a new one. That takes a SATA "serial ATA" hard drive. They are universal so any manufacture name replacement will work.

SOURCE: I have a Dell studio

Hi,

We could resolve this by many testings, we cannot give direct solution immediately.

Initially while booting do you see any screen? like DELL logo. Try tapping F2 or DEL key the moment you turn on and check if you can get into BIOS.

Riztech

Hardware failure, most likely in the motherboard. Take the laptop to a repair shop for an in-depth testing. Beware, the repair will be expensive.

try to boot in safe mode first. turn on computer then keep tapping on F8 then boot to safe mode. once you booted in safe mode try to open notepad and word check if all keys working. if yes then try system restore it might be some conflict when in normal mode. if keys same problem in safe mode then try last known good configuration if still having the same problem with normal mode then try booting to F8 safe mode with networking. download the latest toucpad drivers and the latest bios for your system. install all downloaded updates then boot back to normal mode after. check if still the same problem. if yes then try to do system restore to the previous state when laptop keys was working fine. if all fails try to re-install the OS. if fails then have your touchpad, keyboard and palmrest replaced. (Note: when troubleshooting make sure you are using an external mouse and keyboard thru USB)

Strip above the keyboard stopped working.

Contact Dell please. You need to have Dell send a service technician to your home/business to replace the hinge cover, this is a fairly general problem, there are issues with the wireing.
