You might want to try updating your TomTom through TomTom Home. It loads something called "QuickFix" onto the TomTom, which I guess tells the TomTom where GPS satellites are going to be. I get a fix in about 5-15 seconds if I keep this updated, otherwise it takes a few minutes.
i work as a truck driver on a small fleet of 7 vehicles in the midlands UK
3 of us have Tom Toms, the others have medion, navman or garmin.
ALL the tom tom users have been experiencing GPS problems this week ( june 21 onwards ) whilst the rest of us have seen no change in GPS satelite availability.
In addition, a friend who uses a TOM TOM One XL in another part of the UK has also had same problems.
Its a TOM TOM problem generally it seems, and NOT your particular piece of kit.
ok my aussie compatriot your problem is mainly the battery not being fully charged on the ac charger, it also needs a clear view of the sky. most tomtoms have an external antenna port mmcx but dont buy thoise cheap 28db units as they are trouble, go to Marbella Australia and get one of their 50Db external mouse antennas and that will help tremendously. Perhaps dump your tomtom while your at it as they are nothing but trouble. just check the numer of issue son this forum. check out the A8010 or the super A860 on the marbella site then sell off your tomtom
takes long time to get signal
