I have a 65 in mitsubishi ws65809, and i just had the stk chips replaced about 4 months ago, but for some reason my tv's tint is way off and producing a greenish yellow color across the whole screen. i took the front panel off and i tried adjusting the bulb brighness and focus to fix the problem, but no luck. is my red gun burnt out, or is it something else. also, when i go to the menu and adjust the convergence, the colors are fine. so please help me i cant figure this out

Im assumiong you checked the tint in the menu options. if not go check it. other wise it sounds like you have a weak tube, or you do not know how to adjust the screen brightness. this is how i adjust the brightness (you dont need to touch the focus). turn the red up until your whole screen is tinted red, then do the same with the blue and the green. then go through each one and turn down just a little till your pic darkens a little. good luck

Convergence CHIP on ws-65511

This TV uses either a single STK-393-100
or a pair of STK-392-570's

the only way to tell is to look inside.
unplug the unit and take off the back.
the convergence chip(s) is on the center board on the big finned heat sink.

When my 65 inch Mitsubishi tv is on for about 10 minutes the colors get al blury and almost looks like 3D without the glasses. It is nine years old Model number WS-65819.It doesn't clear up

Your Convergence ICs are likely failing or it is a bad solder joint related to that area. It is very common on rear projections. The solution is to replace the STK chips, check fuses and the resistors next to the STK chips. Replace as necessary and re-align via the service menu. It is about a $300 repair at a tv service center. You will need the service manual if you decide to do this yourself.

Try This:
When you notice the symptons Use this simple test to verify.
Go to the users menu on the tv.
Look for the converge option probably under setup or video setting. Converge is short for convergence to align the red and blue colors to the green color.

If you cannot move the red either horizontal or vertical, then the STK chip has failed for red section.
If you cannot move the blue either horizontal or vertical, then the STK chip has failed for the blue section.

If you can move both in each direction then the problem is something else.

Note if one STK chip fails, you replace both regardless. There may only be one STK chip in this set. If there are two, they will be right next to each other.

65" Mitsubishi projection tv, my colors are not matching up.

If red or blue will not adjust in some direction--you have a Convergence circuit problem---

This model (WS-65809) uses two of the STK-392-570 Convergence IC's---

Green for a good reason is not adjustable in the customer mode---it is only adjusted for the Geometry or straightness of the picture and then red and blue are adjusted to it.

If you are able to do this repair yourself you can save the set and a lot of money---most shops charge 300-400 for this type of repair in this set.

You can buy both chips for about 14 dollars on Ebay- and I have step by step---start to finish instructions for this repair in this set--they tell also everything you will need to do and what you need.

If you want the instructions let me know---I am not allowed to post MY email here.....but you.....

Not everyone can do this repair---Let me know if you have any questions or need advice----

If you get someone else to do the repair make sure BOTH chips get replaced or the set will have the same problem again in a few months.

Convergence problem

You will either need to order a new convergence board or a STK chip to replace the bad one. STK chips require using a soldering iron. A handy guide for this repair can be found by clicking on the link below. Best of luck and hope this answers your question.
