What type of ram (memory) is compatible with the gateway 4000676 motherboard

I need to find out if what type of memory belongs on this motherboard, because the two I put in are must not be compatible because it still runs slow.

ok i went to the support site that u show n it did not show the same motherboard 4000676. Did I look at it wrong? Another thing also u said that it uses ddr1 or ddr2, on one of my computers I have example ddr2 PC2700 what are those numbers does it matter or just the ddr. Whats dimm because when i looked at the motherboard it look like it had that by the middle slot. I really appreciate ur time/effort to help an old lady like myself figure this out. Thanks in advance.

    Ooops!
Just found out that ur Mother Board is a Pentium 3!

It uses a PC100 memory card for the early type and DDr1 for the later type.

If you see two guide slot on the memrory rail, it means it uses a PC100, 133mghz.
If you see a single guide slot on the memory rail, that means it uses DDR1, 400mhz.

    Hope that clarifies everything!

If the problem is the speed of your computer.

My advice is to upgrade the motherboard to Pentium4 or the latest version of dual core.

    Hope that helps!

Lap top will not start up after installing the ddr2

make sure the RAM is securely seated and the RAM socket is dust free your laptop might not be compatible with ddr2 RAM also always keep the largest RAM closest the CPU central processing unit and keep the same brands/types of RAM some motherboards will not accept 2 different brands/types of RAM
    hope this helps

I have a (mx-6378x-l) k0302002574. What is the amount and type of ram that it will support?

    See: http://www.motherboards.org/mobot/motherboards_d/MSI/MS-6378X-L%2528MS-6378%20V.3%2529/

    Front Side Bus 266/200 Mhz
Memory Type SDRAM Memory Channels Single Maximum Memory 1GB
    Memory Type SDRAM
    Memory Channels Single
    Maximum Memory 1GB
So, it's the older PC133/PC100 RAM, not the newer DDR RAM, nor the newest DDR2 RAM,
that will be compatible with the 266 (2 times 133) or 200 Mhz (2 times 100) speed of the bus.

Constant restarts after upgrading memory to 512 on 300 gateway

The first place i would look -- check the new memory, make sure its the correct type and voltage for your motherboard. Next, check to make sure your ram are both the same speed, voltage , etc. some motherboards are picky about memory types and some require that paired memory be installed.
Reseat (remove and replace) the memory in it's slot, poorly seated memory can cause restarts or no-starts. try these and post again here if you need further assistance.

    Ram

Part Number: 2511451 Intel (Fedora) motherboard Pentium III - 667-MHz

The motherboard will support a minimum memory size of 16-megabyte (MB) and a maximum of 512-MB. The BIOS automatically detects memory type, size, and speed. The memory type, size, and speed can vary between the sockets. The memory modules do not have to be installed in a certain order or in a specific socket. Bank 0 or the DIMM1 slot is located toward the rear of the motherboard.

    http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERBD/INTEL/2508226/250822604.shtml

Note: The individual part number for this motherboard is 4000684. This number helps technicians locate the motherboard in the CRM. Some invoices list the motherboard separately and not as part of the sub-assembly, which includes the motherboard and processor. You cannot use the individual part number to replace this motherboard. Use the sub-assembly number at the top of this page.

Note: Before adding, removing, or reseating any hardware, verify that the computer is unplugged. Then, either wait 30 seconds or press the power button to discharge the motherboard. The motherboard maintains power even after the computer is turned off.

A bios update is available for your system here:

This may, or may not, correct your problem.

Want to add memory to Gateway 700x

Upgrading RAM on your Gateway 700X (DDR) Computer is easy, Gateway 700X (DDR) Computer takes the PC3200 DDR SDRAM DIMMs. Supports Dual Channel DDR. RAM Type, and comes installed with 512 MB (removable) of RAM.
You can upgrade your Gateway 700X (DDR) Computer to up to a maximum of 2.0 GB RAM, the Computer has 4 sockets to install RAM, already with 512 MB (removable) standard RAM installed. For best Computer performance use the maximum amount of allowed RAM per slot for your system.

Ram support for intel 845 motherboard

Ok. So you've defined the Intel 845 chipset on your motherboard.

But is it the 845 or 845G chipset?

Click HERE for the specifications of the Intel 845 chipset.

Click HERE for the specifications of the Intel 845G chipset.

    Peepnklown is only HALF right.

The Intel 845 chipset does NOT support PC133 memory.

The Intel 845G chipset DOES support both DDR and PC133 memory.

    The difference?

The 845 has a single memory controller for DDR memory.

The 845G has two memory controllers. One for DDR and one for PC133.

Although you're going to need DDR memory as it is FASTER and less expensive than the older PC133 memory. (Believe it or not.)

I do NOT recommend using Corsair's ValuSelect memory on this chipset. I have two boards with the 845G chipset and that type of memory does not allow the board to boot.

These boards typically come with DDR266 (PC2100) modules installed.

I would go ahead and buy DDR333 (PC2700) memory for it. The board you have may not utilize the full speed of that memory, but will use tighter memory timings if the RAM is clocked down by the board. This will result in better efficiency of memory use by the processor.

Think of it as giving the motherboard "breathing room".

I could recommend PNY memory for the most basic compatability. (Not that they manufacture their own RAM modules...) Or perhaps Nanya, Infineon or Microtek.

Look for memory compatability lists for your particular motherboard module online. You could also use PNY's memory configurator on their website.

Click HERE for PNY's memory configurator.

    Good luck.

    Compatible Memory

if your motherboard is a DDR Ram supported type memory it should be able to take DDR 2100 or higher as most DDR is backward speed compatable, but it may be incompatable with certain types of ram or may need two of the same speed in each slot. Pc 266 is the double data rate of pc133 which in DDR terms is pc 2100
