Managed to solve the problem myself. Uninstalled scanner driver. Downloaded new scanner driver from Epson website & reinstalled same. Downloaded upgraded software for REV5 OR LATER USB HOST CONNECTION CONTROLLER & ran same. Scanner now fully functional.

@ Other computers might be beyond the range of wi fi limits, run the CD in other computers ask to detect.. if not detected suspect out range.Check obstructions of walls, beams, magnetic fields. @ If printer is not scanning check whether copy happening or not, if copy is happening uninstall the drivers and reload it once again, if copy not happening check scanner unit warming up or not.
When I press the scanner button the top power button starts blinking but the machine does not scan. I have not used the scanning function on this machine before. Please help...you may need to reinstall your..
If you have the original CD that came with the printer, install it since the program will have the printer drivers. You didn't mention what operating system you have- I found some scanner drivers by googling "mx310 scanner drivers", and there are some out there- one site that had a free download was for a mac OS, but there are others for Windows. I have a Canon, and the way it scans is that you push scan on the printer, and it brings up the Canon Imaging Studio to receive the scan. I've never tried it without the program, but the net has drivers so I'm guessing they work, however I don't know.
You might be able to get a copy of a Canon CD from Best Buy- I know they keep copies to help people reload programs when they lose their CD.

delete the norton internet security as its blocking the scanner files of your printer software .or try reloading the printer drivers again but if reloading the printer drivers does not helps then removing the norton software is compulsary as the files of printer are getting blocked so scanner is not working.
