I recently had exactly the same problme with this model refrigerator. I found the problem to be the defrost timer. It is located behind the panel on the back of the refrigerator where the mains cord is located, you will need to replace it with the exact same model. I am in Australia and managed to find the exact part on ebay cheaply from a local appliance parts supplier, any appliance parts supplier that deals in Sharp refrigerators should be able to help you.
You will have to defrost the refrigerator overnight again before doing this repair.
Of course there are a couple of other components that could cause this problem, you can acutally check to see if the defrost time is moving by taking note of it's current position and then checking it every thirty minutes or so. If it does not move then it could be faulty, make sure also that power is getting to the timer as well.
When the freezer section gets cold and reaches
its required cooling temperature, after that the frost on freezer section
starts defrosting and the cooling fan in the freezer section blows this cool
air from freezer to fridge. But if the defrost cycle does not start then over
ice will get collected on freezer ventilations and that will block the
air passing section from freezer to fridge, so the freezer gets cool but fridge
section does not cool. Its defrost problem. Try
manual defrost by unplugging the refrigerator from main power outlet
for 4 hours then reconnect it and check, if the same problem is noticed again,.
If yes then its defrost board problem. The defrost board located in the back of
fridge section. You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com or from
online sears part site. ------------- Thank you.

Problem: Sharp SJ-42E-WH self-defrosting fridge. Freezer
In addition to the above:
I switched the refrigerator off again last night and turned it on again this morning
I removed the coverplate so that I can observe the damper to make sure that it isn't in the closed position
I measured the temperature in the freezer to be minus 7 degrees
Depite that and the fact that the fan is working, very little cold air is being forced down the duct by the fan - holding my hand at the duct inside the fridge only a very small amount of cool air seems to be coming through (door switch manually held to engage the evaporator fan)
I have used mirrors to check that the air duct isn't blocked and have even blown air through it with a hand-held blower
I'm at a total loss, Airflow definitely seems to be the problem though and it is not the damper. I'm wondering if any other ducts exist which might have become blocked due to accidental spillage in the freezer?
Please guys - any suggestions at all will be much appreciated
My freezer works fine but fridge will not cool, fan runs but no cool air.
