Is my Scanmaker X6 compatible with Windows Vista?

You will find a list of scanner drivers for many Microtek devices, including the ScanMaker X6 at the SANE website.

I really you cannot use this Scanner for Vista, only before Vista came out there's no Driver Freeware available yet or the Microtek didn't not provide the driver freeware for this.
I suggest you to install it with Windows XP, it's better on Windows XP and don't need to install in Windows Vista, it's no use on it.
Or also you just buy a new one ready for Windows Vista scanner.
Provided that the Microtek didn't yet give a driver for this then install it where it is compatible with.

try your driver you have for this it might work.some driver for xp works on vista i founld out but if not.go to driverguide,com to look for one.you might find one there

Something old enough to work on Windows 98 probably won't be very happy on Vista ... however, I'd try the XP version of drivers before you teach it to fly!

that's the specific driver. download and install that. if you find that vista programs can now 'see' the scanner, but still don't 'know what the scanner is', then you can uninstall the driver again, and then go back to the exe. file and right click on it. Then click Properties. There is a chance that you will see a Compatibility tab. If you do, click that and choose XP compatibility mode from the list, press Apply, then ok. Then install it and reboot again.
If it still doesn't work, then either there is no Vista compatibility for your scanner, ie it's too old to use with anything later than xp, or you need to clean the pc and the registry up with something like ncleaner, which is free and a really handy program, i swear by it.

Your Model 3840 Scan only works with Win 98SE/ME/2000/XP

At this point you can do:

1) Replace your Scanner for one Vista Compatible

or

2) Downgrade your system to Window XP

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but the i320 was made before Vista came out, so it is only compatible with Windows XP and earlier. In addition, Microtek has announced that it plans to cease selling consumer products in North America, so there will not be any additional drivers coming.

Select your connection speed
Click go

A Scanner this old is not likely to work with a computer that is current. You did not say if you have the driver disk to try. If you have and have loaded the MiraScan software,right click on the program icon and click on properties then campatability and set to run as W98 and see what happens You will not find driver for this one now. I assume you are running XP or 2000 This scanner designed to run with W95/98 is not compatible with modern NTFS systems.
