Problem with philips voip841

Hi, I set it all up following the book but it will not connect to internet.
I have connected the Ethernet wire accordingly to an open LAN port
in my wireless ADSL router. The light at the LAN ports comes on.
The light at the base (Ethernet connection) comes on but...the telephone will not allow connection and says "connection failure" when I try to use Skype... I am missing something here ? Do I have to configurate the
telephone with some further details about my ADSL line or internet connection...? PLS CAN YOU HELP ME. THANKS from Gran Canaria. Jas

The problem is that when I check the handset it seems to have picked up NO IP ADDRESS despite the fact in my wireless router I can see that an IP NUMBER and a MAC ADDRESS has been assigned to the VOIP... (???). I also made sure that the DCHP option of my router is ON so I cannot understand why the handset DOES NOT PICK UP THE IP NUMBER AUTOMATICALLY...

When I check the DCHP option on the handset it reads ENABLED but, if I change the setting to

Spanish and then check the same DCHP option in the handset it reads "DESACTICADO"...which

means "NOT ACTIVE"... This really looks like a faulty VOIP, doesn't it ?

I have a 7" Mini Ez book Net book and it will not

The only thing I can thing of is the DNS setting for your wireless connection is not setup correctly.
Make sure your wireless connection is set to Obtain DNS server address sutomatically.

The setting is located in the wireless connection's properties, Internet Protocol(TCP/IT) Properties.

or

Perform the following and compare the DNS settings for both wired and wireless connections.
Go to command prompt and type the following.
ipconfig /all

Can i hook up my ps3 to a wired internet

Wired Connectivity:

The network configuration and connection depends on the connection method and equipment you have.

Important: A router would be required if you want your PS3 and the computer to be connected to the internet at the same time.

The following are mandatory. You need:
  • An Internet connection
  • A cable modem
  • Ethernet cable. (Available with the PS3)

When you have a wired connection to the Internet, it is not necessary to adjust any of the default settings. (It is done automatically). If you aren't able to connect with the default settings, follow the instructions to adjust the settings.

  1. Select "Network Settings" under "Settings" in the home menu, press the x_button.jpg button.
  2. Select "Internet Connection Settings", press the x_button.jpg button.
  3. You will be popped with a message stating the Internet connection will be terminated, select Yes, press the x_button.jpg button.
  4. Select "Wired Connection", press the x_button.jpg button.
  5. Select Easy or Custom and adjust the settings.
    • If you select Easy, then the basic settings are automatically set.
    • If you select Custom, then you need to enter the settings. Refer the settings supplied by your Internet service provider.

Connecting Laptop wireless and Desktop wired to the router

Do you need to see the desktop or just share folders from each other? If the latter then you need to do the following:

Use Windows Explorer and select a folder you want to share. Right click and select sharing and security.

On the sharing tab click on Share this folder. Enter a share name ( I like to enter the PC name _folder name; Rick1_Downloads)

Click on Permissions. If your ok with everyone using the PC's and Laptops having access then highlight Everyone and click on Full Control.

Do this on each PC and Laptop.

That should be it or darned near close.

VOIP841 will not register

Probably there is typo when entering user name or login. Check and see perhaps there are some unnecessary spaces in user name or password.
Also make sure internet connection is on and working + router is configured to accept new connection.

Interner connection

well first is it wired or wireless?

Wired: just plug in your Ethernet Cable in the back of the PS3 and go to Network Settings, Internet Connection and pick wired. do a Connection test and your good to go.

Wireless Network Settings, internet Connection then pick wireless, pick our access point and put any security codes in(WEP, WPA-SK) connection test and it should work.

But i recommend using the Wired connection cause the internet is a lot faster.

Connection

You only need a router and a DSL connection (with a Philips VoIP841). Have a look to this review:

Internet connection

the Ps3 should connect fine, if you have your wired router set up right to automatically assign ip addresses...(DHCP)..in otherwords, anyone who comes over with a computer from anywhere..even me..should be able to plug a lan cable in to your router and it should connect without changing any settings. If this is true, then you should be able to go into your settings menu, select wired connection type, hook up your lan cable...then select auto and east for the settings for ethernet. this should work, if any pc works. If not, you may have to call AOL for info on how to properly configure your router and PS3. The network issue is most likely a AOL issue, and not a PS3 issue.

Philips VOIP841 Cannot connect to Skype - Adsl problem?

Right. I've fixed it!

Here's what I did.

- You need to upgrade to the latest firmware. This is available from the Philips website. Make sure you select exactly the model of your phone. There are some instructions about how to upgrade the firmware in the manual
- Then you need to perform a reset of the system. ie: get a sharp tool and ram it into the tiny little hole on the black box which comes with the phone. If you don't do this after upgrading, it doesn' t work.
- One other tip is to check the firewall settings on your router allow the traffic in/out as well.

I called the Philips service center, and they were a bit useless, but they said if it doesn't work you could try taking the batteries out of the phone for 4 hours. Hmmmm... only try this if the above doesn't work!

Good luck.
