Hello
It will be difficult to match any other universal remote with this model Hitachi set. You have to get the original remote control to select all the functions with this TV. If your original remote control doesn't work at all, just buy a new one. You can get it from the authorised service center for Hitachi at your town. OK.

Thanks for the reply but I would like to mention that all functions work with the 650 Harmony remote it cycles through the inputs, it just will not select the one that I programed for that function it acts as if I blocked that input out, I hope I am making sense.

Yes, Mr: George. It may be. But in my practice, I felt that this mdel Hitachi cannot be contolled for its full functionality with an other remote, except with its original one. Just do a factory reset to your TV and see whether the present remote you uses will match with it. That is the only thing for you to check. OK.

When powering on using the harmony 670 remote, it changes the input type from HDMI to cable

You probably have the input selected to cable for the Activity that you are using.

In the software, click 'Settings' beside your activity then click 'Review the settings for this Activity'. Then, go through the setup wizard and make sure the input for the Activity is selected as 'HDMI'.

I have a logitech remote for my tv, just bought a wii game. Do i need to program it into my remote as i cannot get the wii to work?

Because the Wii does not have IR receivers, it is not directly compatible with the Harmony remotes. However, you can still create a "Play Wii" activity that will turn on your other devices that are needed for the activity and set them to the correct inputs. So, for example, you would still need to turn the Wii on manually, but you the "Play Wii" activity would turn the TV on, set the correct input for the Wii and activate your sound system (if separate from the TV). Hope this helps!

Hi -- I have a Logitech Harmony 676.We installed a new component ( a Bluray player ), and had to create a new account. So we went through all the steps, and now we can't get any sound. Also, the TV doesn't...

First you need to figure out why your not getting sound. For the following don't use the remote. Turn everything on manually. Set the TV's input to the source you want i.e. DVD, input1, inuput2, etc... While viewing that source manually turn up the volume on the TV or receiver. If using the receiver, toggle thru the inputs untill you here your program. Write down the combination of equipment and there input settings. Bottom line we need to get your hardware working and understand the settings before we start working on the remote. Once the hardware is working you can then program the Harmony with the correct settings. If your hardware is not getting you audio please send me more information concerning your setup. TV type, Cable box, direcTV Reciver. I need to understand your setup before I can help you troubleshoot your system.
Hope this helps.

Everything works except no picture of tv

The Television may be out of synchronization with your remote or may be configured incorrectly.

1. In front of your Television, press the Help button on your Harmony Remote.
2. Answer No when asked "Did that fix the problem?"
3. The Harmony will then ask, one by one, if all of your required devices powered on when the Activity was started. Answer Yes or No until all required devices are powered on.
4. Answer No if the remote asks if the TV is set to the correct input needed for the Activity. In this example Input 4 is used, though this may vary from your setup. If the TV switches to another input but no picture is seen, continue answering No until an image appears.
5. If you now have a picture on your TV screen, answer Yes when asked if the problem is now fixed. Your television was simply out of synchronization with your Harmony One and should now work correctly. Please try switching between your other Activities to see if they switch correctly. If this has not fixed the problem, proceed to the next section Confirming your Activity Settings.

To confirm your Activity Settings, please follow the steps below:

1. Launch the Logitech Harmony Remote software and login to your account.
2. Click on the Activities tab on your home page
3. Click on the Settings button for the Activity you wish to troubleshoot.
4. Select Review the settings for this Activity and click on the Next button.
5. Confirm the input chosen for your television is correct. Select No, I want to run the setup wizard again to change these settings and click on the Next button.
6. Click on the Next button through the Activity setup screens until you arrive at the screen asking the question "What input or channel does your ... TV need to be on? From the list, select the input that the TV uses for this Activity. Once finished, click on the Next button.

**NOTE: It is recommended to perform these steps for all Activities that use the television.

8. Click on the Done button on the Set Up Activities: Summary page.
9. Click on the Done button on the "Select the Activity settings you would like to modify" screen.
10. When you have finished, click Done to save your changes.
11. Click on the Update Remote button to update your remote.

Control DMPORT with harmony 880??

I wish I could take credit for this one, but I found something that may be helpful to you from Logitech's technical support forum:

The adding of an iPod dock is frequent question. The quickest & easiest solution is to just add a Digital Music Server with Manufacturer: Apple and Model: iPod to you account. The reason behind this is just to let the Harmony Software know you have an iPod & wish to create an activity to use it.

Once the iPod is in your account you can create a 'Listen to Digital Music' activity. It will ask you which device you want for volume, so just choose the A/V with the dock & the DMPort as the input.

After the activity is been created, you can go back and says 'Yes, but you wish to add more control'. This is where you would add the TV as a additional device in the activity & tell it to go to AV1. Once that is done, the Harmony will turn on the TV & set it to AV1, and turn on the AV & set it to DMPort.

You can also 'Customize Buttons' for the activity in case there are any volume & control buttons you wish to specify yourself instead of using the Apple iPod.

Logitech Harmony 880 LCD / TV screen ''check signal cable''

This is a configuration problem. My guess is that when you set up the "Watch TV" Activity, the input source was not properly selected. Remember, you should almost never need to control devices separately,(as you would with a typical remote). In fact, the only time you need to specifically control a device would be a situation where you need to access a little-used function that was not programmed as part of an 'activity'. Sometimes, you may need to control a device to tweak an activity that did not start correctly, but apart from these situations, you will almost always be concerned with starting "Activities". This is very different from your typical universal remote! Instead of operating 'devices' like your TV, cable box or DVD, you configure and select "Activities" that automatically control the devices that are used during that activity. So, go back into the Logitech software and make sure that your Watch TV activity is selecting the appropriate input. If everything is setup correctly, and you still are unable to go to the correct input, you may need to adjust some of your delay settings, especially the Power-on Delay. Power on delay is the amount of time it takes for the device to turn on and start accepting IR commands. On most electronics when you first turn them on if you hit other buttons too quickly the device will not respond to them. This delay helps to keep that from happening. Hope this helps!
