Printing Labels When I try to print labels to the Dell 5100cn Laser printer it comes up with a message saying "Load MPF". What does that mean and what should I do to fix the problem? Thank you for you assistance! ~Carolyn

I have the same problem, however, saying Ok doesn't help. I still get nothing. What else could be the problem? Thx!

Same -- trying to print labels, loaded label on MPF tray, change settings in both the printer and software and nada - still gives me the message load MPF letter plain.

The MPF is simply the "Manual Paper Feed".
Your printer is set by default that the MPF paper type is "plain paper". Since you are telling the printer that you are trying to print lables, the printer is simply telling you that you need to load the MPF with lables.

If you say "ok", the printer sould continue and print the lables.

If you only print lables, the you can change the default paper for the MPF tray to "lables", and then you will no longer be prompted to load the tray.

At school there is a printer the Dell 5100cn laser printer and we need to print labels and each time we try it asks on the computer if I want to continue because they are outside of the standard margins,...

A5 is a European paper size standard. Your label making program is telling the printer that the program needs that size label paper. You have to tell the printer to use that size paper. It may be somewhere in the menu of the printer driver on the computer or it may be on the display window on the printer, or it may be as simple as flipping a tab in the paper tray. As far as the printing outside the standard margins, most printers will allow a certain amount of that without a problem. Just tell it yes or Ok. If you solve the paper size problem and it hangs up when you tell it to print outside the margins, then the printer is not compatible with that label format in the label printing program. You will have to choose a different format. I recommend that you select a label format that is a US standard like 3 across on 8 1/2 x 11 paper.

When I print labels the sheet is smudged using Dell 3110cn.

Due to the thickness of label stock it can take more heat to fuse the toner than when you use normal paper.

1 You MUST use labels that are suitable for laser printers.

2 When printing on labels, you'll probably put them (face down) in the MPF 'tray' in the door, and make sure you choose Label as your paper type under Printing Preferences, Paper Tray, MPF Settings

Dell Laser Printer 5100cn Load MPF Letter Plain 1 !

Are you trying to use the "MPF" (Manual Paper Feed) tray?

If you are then the manual paper feed tray is usually a fold down flap at the back of the printer. It only accepts on piece of paper at a time.

However, if you are just trying to print to the printer's default tray, then you need to check both the "Page Setup" in the application and the printer driver properties to make sure that you are calling the correct paper tray.

My Dell Color Laser Printer 5110 cn won't print. It keeps saying ''Load MPF Letter'' then ''Load MPF Plain'' then ''Load MPF 020-969

it's asking for paper in the manual Paper Feeder (MPF). Somewhere in your settings you have it printing to the MPF. Check the settings in the printer prefrences, the printer itself and the software you're using.
Cheers.

Dell 5100cn won't recognize mpf tray

Go to the printer web page by entering the IP address of the printer in an Internet Browser.
click Printer Settings menu entry
If the Substitute Tray value is not MPF Feed, click on the Printer Settings tab
Set the Substitute Tray value to MPF Feed
Click the button Apply New Settings, it will request the admin id & password for the printer.

In trying to resolve this issue, initially I set the Tray Settings to Panel Specified from Driver Specified at the printer's panel. Since the issue was resolved with this set, I just left it that way.

Dell 5100cn Laser Printer Multipurpose Feed Problem

I had the same problem, my solution was:

1) Go into the Print dialog window, select your 5100cn printer and click the "Properties" button next to it.
2) Select the second tab, labeled "Paper Tray".
3) Select "MPF" from the "Paper Source" drop-down list.
4) Click the "MPF Settings" button and select "Envelope".

That should allow your program to print to MPF for envelopes. This needs to be done in your software, setting it on the printer's control panel didn't work for me.
