When I try to burn it says DVD is copy protected. And when I download Booyah plug-in it still doesn't work.

What burning software/version are you using?

Which Program? There is a difference between Burn and Copy.

Copy means you have a CD or DvD that already has something on it such as a music CD or a movie DvD and you want to copy it. The system normally reads the CD or DvD and copies the contents to disk then asks you to put in a blank CD or DvD to make the copy.

Burn means you have Data Files, Documents or Music that is already on the disk drive and you want to put it on a Cd or DvD. Normally you just put in a blank CD or DvD then either Drop and Drag, Browse or Copy and Paste the files you want on the CD or DvD.

You may try burn by CD to CD burn but if you want to select files that you want to burn, you have to ripped the music from the Music CD by using Window Media Player 10 or higher. Or try using software that ripped music from CD.

This is the instruction of CD to CD:

1. Insert the source disk
2. Then hit burn or copy to CD on your HP CD & DVD burner software or application.
Then it will be temporarily copied to the hard drive.
3. after it finishes copying the source disk, you will be ask to insert a blank CD then hit continue or OK

The first question is,does the copy protected mean the program or the video copy? Did you pay for the program?
And, if you actually bought it, or it doesn't mean the program, did you try to capture video with some webcams and the like? ShowBiz 2 may not allow people to record video from one copy to another with laws. Other programs have the same restrictions, too. You can try ShowBiz 5, which I used recently, it's good!

To copy a dvd to your hard drive for future copies is essentially as described here:-

Your M35X-S1143 model - assuming it still has the stock drive - has an DVD / CD-RW optical drive - i.e. it will write only to CD's but not DVD's. If you try to burn a DVD, it'll tell you that the disc is write protected (when in fact, the drive doesn't even know how to write to a DVD disc.); if you go ahead and burn a CD, you will not encounter the write protection warnings.

DVD movies are usually copy protected and cannot be copied without a DVD copy program that removes the copy protection.
You also need a DVD burning drive installed in your ASUS.

this depends on what you want to copy if its a cd or a dvd you will need the burning software that will support this if you just want to copy a file click start all programs accessories open windows explorer navigate to the file select it right click select copy then you can copy it to another place on your computer

note : the cd or dvd device when you didn't use for along time that cause to damaged

Hi, copying copy protected stuff wont do any damage to your drive, best program to use is dvd shrink, but u need nero installed for it to work, u can download dvd shrink free if you search on google.com i would suggest just returning the drive to the shop you purchased it from as its still under warrenty..
