When first purchased it worked properly. It was never dropped, never left in car, We are a middle aged couple with no children around so no one but myself has handled the system. When we were going to go on a trip I brought it out to put info into it and that is when the above written problem happened. I pushed the reset button and the same thing happened over and over again. Also there was no car charger unit with it. Zellers told me I could not return it to them.

Once again, it's a software issue or a corrupted SD card. You can purchase a new card but the same old mapping on Nextar.com or Navteq.com. To ensure that your software stays working properly, backup the SD card onto your computer so if the SD card gets corrupted you can restore the software and files back onto your card or a new SD card that can be purchased for around 20 bucks.

unless you update maps on a regular basis (once a year or) new roads may not show on screen, the Map updates are not free,Garmin charges about $100 USD, the other issue is that not all the roads in the USA are in the software, so this can happen, the system is not perfect but it is good, just wanted you to knopw that Nextar doesn't have any updates, other do like Garmin and Tomtom.

" Q: NOTICE for all US customers with M3 and Q4 series that have been having a problem recently with receiving a satellite signal.
A: Recently it has come to our attention that there has been a problem with a US GPS satellite, in the early morning of June 14 launch a sudden change in the code signal, leading to some GPS signal anomalies. It is told that the satellite signal should be running properly by June 22, 2009.
Here is a proposed solution. We nextar owners who purchased this, not just for the low price, but for the many selling points. one of which is the ability to "update very soon". This constitutes a deceptive sales practice. Thereby, it is a fraud. This is illegal.
That leaves us consumers with one option. That option is to File a lawsuit against Nextar and their licenced retailers.
We need to band together, organize as a consumer group and either force nextar to comply, or we sue for the cost of a new unit from another company, plus punitive damages.
We as consumers can not continue to accept abuse like this from large corporations.
