The model number is not a sony, what is the model number on the back if it is Sony?

  • Anonymous Nov 03, 2011

Sorry was just checking through and clicked on this one.

The TV is a Sony KDS-55A2000
The lamp was broke in it, changed the bulb and the screen has a greenish tint
    in it.
    Any advice would be appreciated

  • Anonymous Nov 03, 2011

yes, that indicates a problem with the optical light engine in the set; Google the model number with the word problems after it.

It is a major part of the set.

SOURCE: my sony rear projection has a green tint to it.

I han into this problem myself on my Hitachi Rear projection TV. The part that has gone bad is the "Light Engine", and is a common problem with rear projections. There are 3 mini LCD screens inside your TV. One Green/yellow, one blue and one red. When the heat builds up in the TV over time of usage, these screens will break...causing that color to "bleed" everwhere. My TV was under warranty when it happened, but the part itself would have cost upwards of $200-500 bucks and the labor is another $300-$500.

When the tech fixed my tv, he told me he would see me again within 2 years...and said I'd be better off getting a new TV. That is what the problem is. You can research "Light Engine" here on fixya, and you will find a TON of info on it...and a lot of people with the same problem.

Hope this helps ya.

SOURCE: Green hue on KP-43Ht20 Sony rear projection tv

Behind the front cover you will see a little plastic box with six phillips headed dials. They only move 180 degrees. The three on the bottom control color richness and the three above them control focus. Turn all three of the bottom ones to the left while the TV is on, then gradually turn them to the right until you get the color you want. NOTE if any one of the three bottom dials are too far up the TV will shut down and will continue to turn off after about 10 seconds after start up until the offending dial is turned back a little.

That is totally the bulb, There was a recall on that model number and I called Sony about it. They scheduled a technician who replaced the bulb and did some software upgrade. My TV works perfectly!

Green tint on sony kds-r5xbr1 rear projection tv. picture in hd is still great looking just green.

What media device are you using and how is it connected?
If its an external device (that is your not using a built in blu ray player or such) and your using compost video (it should be three wires for video, blue, green, and red) check the red wire on both ends. Most of the time this is the problem.
If your using a HDMI cable, or the above does not fix the problem, try replacing the cable.

If its only a slight tinting there should be a setting on your tv for fixing it. (Usualy named Tint)

Screen is green

Sony TVs has an Optical Block issue. If there is an issue with the optical block, then there will be green, blue patches or tint on the TV display. Try resetting the TV to the factory settings and try Power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue still persists, then TV may require service. You can contact the Customer relations team and check for the available options. Sony had repaired free of cost for such issues. Hence, contact the customer relations.

Greenish yellowish tint on the tv

I have been advised that the color/light engine of the TV fails often and will typically create a green tint on this unit. I have one on order to get a replacement installed. BTW, it is not "user serviceable" and (for me) will require moving the TV to the repair shop for the change-out.
