If this is confirmed then you have to replace the controller unit. But since none of the symtoms were mentioned and if the there is no action or output from the controller you must replace the unit.

Maytag neptune washer is very loud when in the spin cycle

I would ask Washerbearings.com and see if they have a bearing and seal kit already or if they can make one up for you for the FAV6800 top loaders.

I have a maytag Neptune tl top load washer. Our house was hit by lightning and it took out the machine. Is it possible that it blow an "protective" fuse and not the entire machine?

There is no fuse in the FAV6800A or FAV9800A.

With no surge protection at the washer service outlet you probably lost the Control Board and maybe the Motor Controler board. I assume to consoled LED indication for the FAV6800A and if the LCD flavor just a dark screen.

Do you want to try to DIY If so I have a machine I can test your Control Board and Motro Controler in. The washer Motor is bullet proof for the most part that is why the warranty is for 10 years. You need a Mac truck to drive over it to kill it most times.

let me know if I can help as a owner of three machines and I do all my own repairs.

How do you put a fav6800 maytag washer into dianostic mode

You need the Service Manual;

From Page 14 of the Service Manual;
Enter / Exit Service Mode To enter Service Mode press the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys (simultaneously) for three seconds or until the control beeps.

The spin motor is going but its not spinning i believe the belt popped off how do i open it up to pop it back on

For the FAV6800/FAV9800AW download the service manual;

5/16 nut driver or 5/16 ¼ socket on an extension to remove front panel see page 41 of the Service Manual

Raise the top of the machine. Insert a flat blade putty knife approximately 2.5” from the left and right sides of the washer top, depress the spring tabs securing machine top to the washer base. See page 33 of the SM for putty knife insertion point.

As mentioned on page 47 of the SM Roll Drive Belt on the Pulley. (Do not loosen motor bolts). If the belt is broken see Sears Parts Direct for a belt P/N.

Noise while spinning

The bearings are going out. Im having the same problem right now. The cost to fix is over $900. Needs a new outer tub and clutch assembly.

machine cannot spin because the unbalance circuit is always open or out of range

Need diagram to remove case

So i replaced the clutch in a neptune and it the washer makes a grinding sound now.

my pump went out on my Maytag washer. Put a pump on it, now it seems to be out of balance. how do i fix it?
