1)Stop the installation
2)Go to Command prompt
3)then type : subst X: C:\
4)Press enter
5)exit out of command prompt
6)Then restart the installation again it should complete
X:\ is the drive you are getting at the time of the installation as invalid drive.
Well the solution to this problem is quite simple. This error does only pop up for Vista Users that do connect a portable device and set their Home Folder (e.g. normally C:/Users/Username/Pictures and change that to X:/Pictues, where X is the drive letter of the portable drive). This change results in invalid registy entries when you disconnect the portable device and so everytime you want to install something, the microsoft installer (msi) pops up this message.
But thanks to biigg53566, the other problem i had (this Service is not installed, during device search) was kinda solved.
Perhaps this thread about invalid drive link will help:

Keep trying to uninstall the printer software, the key to this problem for one I found out is make sure if you have firewall leave that on, but any anti virus off- and any other programs you may have running have to be closed. I have a HP-C6280 photosmart all-in-one printer, once I got the uninstall done.
Restart your computer that is a must then again turn off your antivirus, then try to reload the software, just follow the on screen instructions and you should be on your way.
Just plug in your external device and connect it to the system. Then run the software and it will not give you the Fatal Error message, and should completely install the drivers, and allow connection to the printer wirelessly.
SOURCE: Dear Esperts,
SOURCE: I'm getting fatal error "MSI.netdevicemanager01"
step 1>
remove netdevicemanager.msi from windows cleanup utility.
then try to install software again.
step 2>
remove netdevice manager from registry.
hklm > software > hewlett packard under hewlett packard you will find many {4dfg324.........} entries on left. if you will check each one of these code entries has its discription on right hand side of registry window. each one of these are for scan.msi, solution center.msi.... etc. fine out netdevicemanager.msi adn uninstall that {code} key from hewlett packard. these code keys may also be found in same location under hewlett packard under install key or installed options.

Uninstalled HP Printer, now an Fatal Error pops up during the installation, while trying to connect to the Printer. I have C7250 Photosmart Printer. the Error Says: Invalid Drive X:\ , while X is the Drive letter of the FAT32 portable Harddisk I had connected during the first install but not during the uninstalllation. The error still pops up after manually removing all registy entries that were created by the installer.
The same problem on HP AiO Photosmart 7200 on Windows XP Pro. The installer software says it found newer network drivers and returns with fatal error. Uninstalling the former network printer (HP CP1510) again with McAfee off does not solve the problem. The network software is not uninstalled at all - only the HP print/scan drivers. So, please has someone a solution for it.
Thanks.
mike
I just purchased a All in One HP Photosmart Premium 3C09. When I was installing the software on my laptop (windows xp) it always pops up with "msi.netdevicemanager01". It says "Fatal Error during installationg...Module C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\HPSLPSVC32.DLL failed to register. HRESULT-2147467259"...
I have tried to reinstall a million times but it doesnt work. It usually pops up during 17% of installation.
