I recently purchased a asus k53sj notebook and i tried using the ai recovery burner without a disc and i stopped. Then i put a blank dvd, but the ai recovery burner and it said my recovery partition is missing. What shd i do? Pls help. My e-mail is [email protected]

using Recovery DVD (on selected models)

Creating the Recovery DVD:

1. Double-click the AI Recovery Burner icon on the Window desktop.

2. Insert a blank writable DVD into the optical drive and click Start to start creating the Recovery DVD.



3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete creating the recovery DVD.

you might have to try another burning program there are quite a few that can be downloaded free from the net at cnet, dowload.com,major geeks,tucows to name a few

This problem is normal and exists with many CD/DVD drives.
On some of the drives, if you put in blank discs and try to open the disc in My Computer or Windows Explorer, Windows displays no contents or a blank disc. Whereas on other drives, you get the error message that you mentioned about incorrect function.

What software are you using to burn CDs or DVDs? Are you able to burn CDs but not DVDs or you can't burn both the discs? Did you try a CDs with a different make/manufacturer? Some drives refuse on some disc makes. Try another disc and another writing speed, or try the lowest writing speed available with your software.

It's time to replace the defective (and probably warranty-expired) unit.

If your computer is a notebook, not a desktop, it's best to take the computer to a qualified technician, to disassemble your computer, and replace the drive.

CK ALL YOUR DVD CABLES AND BE SURE THEY ARE IN TIGHT, ALSO CK THE MB PLUGS ARE IN TIGHT AND POWER PLUG IN IS DVD PLAYER CORRECTLY. DID YOU INSTALL THE SOFTWARE THAT CAME WITH DVD PLAYER??? IF SO, DELETE IT AND REINSTALL. SOMETIMES THAT IS ALL IT TAKES.

A blank disc is RAW until something is burn to it the burning program will format it to cdfs.

try isolating the problem by plugging an external cd/dvd drive via the USB. use this to burn CD/DVD if the process works, replace your laptop dvd drive.

change your burner software try for example ashampoo burning studio the latest version or nero 9

Ok, the reason is quite simple. The Philips DVD8421 does not recognise the DVD-R format.Not all DVD/CD burners read all discs. It does recognise DVD+R though. So all you need to do is use these discs instead. This should solve your problem.

have you tried cleaning cd lense and if you are using nero burning rom earlier version update to latest and try any other brand of cd-r's to see if it is the make-up of the disks as some manufactors use different ways to make cd's coating and asus have on their website all media covered by the cd burners in the last resort change to a burner that is compatable with the media you wish to use the burners have come down in price so I would sugest geting a dvd burner combo doing cd's and dvd's
