Hi,
What happens?Does it hang on the loading page or does it restart itself before loading?
If it hangs on the loading page,press CTRL,ALT and DEL.This boots the system.
If it restarts itself,remove the hard disk and re-fix it again.Problem solved?
Remove the CMOS battery and the hard disk and re-fix them again.Problem solved?
If not,you may have to repair your operating system.
This how you do it:-

  • Remove your hard disk and enslave[fix it as a secondary drive] it on another machine with a good operating system.
  • Start the machine.Accept to run unnix[using two drives]
  • The machine will automatically detect your hard disk's failure on the operating system and repair the damaged files.
  • On completion and after Windows opens,turn off the machine and remove your hard disk.
  • Fix the hard disk now on your machine and start it.

The Dell Dimension 2400 drivers are available here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/product/dimension-2400 . Use another computer to visit the site and make sure that Microsoft XP shows in the OS search drop down. Expand the section labeled Network. The wired network adapter is a Broadcom 4401. Dell freezes up after reformat.
i recommend loading in safe mode and uninstalling your graphics drivers and installing the drivers from support.dell.com the reason i say this is because the graphics drivers windows wants to use via windows update occasionally will call erratic system behavior. you can also load in safe mode and go to start>accessories>administrative tools> event viewer. or simply press the windows key and the r key at the same time and type eventvwr and press enter. once there go through the logs and look for red X's or exclamations (can't remember which off hand) and see if you can find out what happens when it crashes.

I need to reinstall window xp pro on my dell dimension 2400-
If you don't need any files currently on the computer, boot from your Windows XP disc, have it delete the current partition and then format the new partition, and install windows XP.
Note: this will delete anything you currently have on the computer at this time!
