Display on 890 remote is faintly lit. I have a new battery and cradle, have updated remote (firm/soft)....nothing. Remote does work, but you can't see display, so you are enabling the 'force' to watch TV...any suggestions

Not worth repairing, contact harmony and they will give you a coupon for 50% off a new remote. The 900 replaced the 890, although I prefer the 890 the screen is a lot better on the 900.

I have a Harmony 1000 remote and it will not work out of the cradle i changed the battery and it still doesnt work

Hi! You should try to update the firmware in safe mode:

1. Remove the battery, press and hold the 'OFF' button, and re-insert the battery. The screen will display 'Safe Mode!', or the 'Activities' button will be lit.
2. Connect your remote to the computer.

3. Launch the Harmony Remote Software, and log in.

4. Click "Downloads" at the top and click "Firmware".

5. The remote will go through the firmware update.

6. Select "Yes", and click NEXT to update the remote.


If it does not go into safe mode, or the firware update will not complete then it's probably a hardware issue. If you're in warranty you can call Logitech for a replacement.

All the remote will do is say Play Game, Aspect. No buttons work including help and activities. Any ideas? Also the date and time is wrong.

The remote screen will power up with a blank screen during charging but once removed from the cradle it will not power up

Hi, You should try upgrading the firmware to see if that fixes the problem. If it does, then you are good to go. If not then this may be a hardware issue.

Logitech harmony 890 display is full of lines

Hey!

I had this same issue and Logitech gave me the troubleshooting steps below that got it working again!!!

1) Remove the battery from the Harmony Remote for 10 seconds and reinsert it. If this does not resolve the issue, please continue troubleshooting.
2) Ensure you have the latest version of the Harmony Remote Software (7.7).
3) Update the firmware on the Harmony Remote. The following link shows how to complete this task:

4) Try putting the Harmony Remote in safe mode and complete the firmware update again. The following are the steps to accomplish this:
a) Remove the battery from the Harmony Remote.
b) Press and hold the power button while reinserting the battery into the Harmony Remote.
c) To get out of safe mode, remove the battery for 10 seconds and reinsert it into the Harmony Remote.

LCD Screen is blank

Had the same thing:
Step 1 - remove the battery for about 60 minutes. There seems to be a little energy store in the unit and just taking out the battery, counting to 10, and reinstalling it does not work.

Step 2- Do a software update upgrade from the Logitech site. The new firmware level seems to have fixed the base problem.

If you just take the battery out and put it in, it does not work.
If you take the battery out and just hook it up to do a software upgrade, it does not work becuase the remote gets power from the USB commenction so it remains "hung"

The most disturbing thing about the whole event for me was the number of people that had the problem occur about 12 months and 1 day after purchase....ie when it was out of warranty!!!
