Replacement part for Bose Cinemate Interface

I need the IR Detector Module that goes inside the BOSE CineMate Interface Module. It seams to be Part Number 1B83 41A or that is what it says in the small black ir detector. Does anybody know where can I find one or if there is a replacement for it.

Use a TSOP4038 . I just replace the original with this one and now leds in the Bose Cinemate Interfase Module turns from red to green and works as new.

Thanks for posting this but how do I go about replacing the TSOP4038? Is it a difficult thing to do? Can you send me directions? thanks! Lisa

You have to unsolder the one inside the Interface module and solder the new one. It needs to be done by someone with soldering experience.

  • Lisa Thomas Dec 04, 2011

How do you open the module? It seems sealed.

  • Hector C Hernandez Dec 04, 2011

The base of the Interface Module has some kind of sylicon glued to paper. This sylicon paper is glued to the base of the module. Just remove the sylicon together with the paper from the module and you will find 4 screws. These 4 screws are the ones that fix the two halves of the module together..

To Lisa (and others), if it's not too late. This solution does work and the part is very cheap. I found it onhttp://www.mouser.com/ . The part was about 70 cents and shipping was about $9. Luckily I had a family member who know about electronics and took care of the taking off the old IR part and soldering in the new one, I tested it today and it worked wonderfully.

To open the module you need to take off the silicone bottom and take out the 4 screws. (it comes apart pretty quickly after that) The IR part is black and in the front next to the green LED, I believe. (could be the red) Regardless, it's pretty simple to find.

SOURCE: remote control codes for a Bose Cinemate

I would contact ur nearest Bose dealer or Contact the company through the website to get a replacement remote, you will of course need the serial number for the product when you contact them, using a universal remote can make things easier but you will not be able to access most of the functions without the original

Before I start to desolder and solder an new IR component I have a question. The green led doesn't turn on, but why does the interface module turn on when I disconnect the White and Red RCA plugs? So,...

It is probably not the IR component. It sounds more like some voltage problem between components. Can you narrow the problem down to which RCA cable and then down to the component itself? It almost sounds like the system is preventing a failure by disabling the IR component.

What do you do when the interface module keeps blinking

you probably have to have the interface module replaced. Pretty common on this model for those to go bad. If you contact Bose, they will repair it for a flat rate fee.

The light on the interface will not come on

Try powering the unit down for 30 seconds and then power it back up.If after pluging and unpluging you still have the fix red led then the IR Detector Module inside the CineMate Interface Module is not working. You have to replace it. The Part Number is 1B83 41A. You can but this part at Radio shack for under $5.00 , remove the old one and solder a new one in, 3 leads of the LED. This was the way I fixed mine

If the light on your control console just stays red and never changes, then the control module is probably bad. It's pretty common on the cinemate models.

I am having a Bose Cinamate Digital Home Theater. Original remote of this was lost and bought a new Bose Solo/cinemate system universal remote. It doesn't function with the interface. Will it real

If you can't get this to work, I suggest you try to return the remote and buy and harmony remote. For me it worked very well with everything including old audio amps and you can configure your own activities.

Same problem. Bose CineMate light went red and doesn't come back green even if I tried changing batteries and doing 5 step approach mentioned above.

If resetting this system and re-seating the interface (box with light) to the bass module doesn't fix this, you may need a new interface module. This sells for about $40-50 from Bose. If this is under it's 1-yr warranty, they should be able to replace this for free.
So just incase you haven't tried it: 1. Unplug the power cord from the bass module (sub-woofer) along with the interface module and wait at least 30+ seconds. 2. Re-connect the interface first- screw it in as tight as can be. 3. Re-connect the power cord, and try the remote again.
This is really the only solution, and it's exactly what their tech support will have you try. That's the one functionally weak point with that system, that little module needs to be adjusted and re-seated from time to time.

Bose Cinemate green led won't come on.

Do the same thing by unplugging the power, but also unplug the interface module (box with red/green LED light) from the sub woofer / bass module, and wait 30+ seconds. Plug the interface module back in first, and screw it in as tight as possible. Then plug the power back in and try the remote. This should fix your problem. :)
If this doesn't fix it, you will have to purchase/replace this module through Bose. (anywhere from $40-$60 if not under 1-yr warranty.) If you're still under warranty, it's a free replacement.

Hello everyone! The Bose interface module is working again. All I did was unplug the power, wait about a minute and then plugged it back in. Whatever it did, it must have reset itself, so now everything is fine.
