Carrier model 42SD7C unit giving Er 03 code on display and stops the unit. what is the cause of this fault?

I tried to find something but its endless. Actually should find the info on the outdoor unit. What's outdoor unit model number?

I can find no A27 fault code for this unit, what is it doing? You can call carrier and ask for the definition, I think they will give it to you, just have the specific model number in hand when you contact them.

The inverter boards are hard to troubleshoot without tech support. Carrier has a tech support 1-800 # but they prefer to speak to technicians and even then its hard for them to repair it over the phone. If you have maintenanced the unit (cleaned) and reset all the codes, call a tech! Or give us some model/serial #'s. 15secs and then a trouble code means there's definitely a fault but very hard to address.

Error Code, All Error Codes will have an ER on the left side, followed by the error on the right:
Er IF - Icemaker Fan Error - This can be caused by frostaccumulation on or around the icemaker fan. Unplug the unit for 3-4hours to allow this to melt off. If error code persists, call CustomerService.
Er FF - Freezer Fan Error - This can be caused by frost accumulationon or around the freezer fan. Unplug the unit for 3-4 hours to allowthis to melt off. If error code persists, call Customer Service.
For remaining error codes, try unplugging the unit for a couple ofminutes to reset the unit. If the error code persists, call CustomerService

Error Code "Er FF" indicates a problem with the unit's freezer fan.

The freezer fan controls the temperature in the freezer. The source of this error is most likely ice buildup. As with the Er IF error, allowing the unit to thaw should resolve the issue.

problem may be the main pcb or evaporator fan motor. this unit has several problems. if the model# starts with a 795 it was made by LG. the er ff code is caused most of the time from frost building up around fan motor. this can also be caused by freezer liner sagging at the top of freezer causing frost build up, sears has a service flash for this that is covered by the manufacture. service flash sf46-512. iwould call sears and find out if your model is on this service flash.

I gave up and called a local HVAC business. This thermostat is discontinued and a new one will be purchased and installed.
