Fl231 replacement Where can this fl231 fuse be bought? The repair man just left, he told me I need a convergence power board that is no longer made and can't be bought, and charged me $150. It's worth a shot.

It was when it first when "bad", I then used the feature, nothing improved, now it is not in the menu.

Ok first lets determine if the fuse is the poblem. do you have convergence option in the setup in customer menu. if you do then it will not be the fuse. if you have that option go into blue and red convergence. when you arrow over left or right up and down do the cross hairs move if they dont then it will be the power board(convergence)

then i would say yes if you do not have the convergence option in setup part of the convergence menu then i would have to go with my instinct on the fuse. for about 5 dollars. at union electronics(800-648-6657) OR GOOGLE the rca part number 259213. i have wrote detail information under tips and tricks section. this should give you information to see if the fuse can fix your problem

Picture looks like hour glass.

You're probably talking about bad convergence. Probably Convergence power board. Only $20-$30 from encompassparts. com, if still available.

How do I replace the FL231 fuse on the circuit board, removal and re-soldering I was told this will fix the convergence issue and that the convergence module is not bad.

Yes, but before powering the set back on you must fix the original issue that caused it to open. The high voltage transformer location LL008 will need to be un-soldered and all pins and pads cleaned. Then re solder the pins to the pads with solder. The original solder was lead free but it tended to crack after it heated up thus causing the intermittent connection and then opening the 400ma fuse to the convergence panel. The fuse is no longer available, but I have included a link to be able to purchase it on ebay. Make sure you ONLY use the size fuse needed as anything higher could be a fire hazard. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...

I have an RCA HD52w59 with a convergence problem. I've been told different things on this site. First I was told to change FL231, CL230, and DL231. I've also been told to replace both IC's (STK392-110)...

Your set doesnt have STK ICs. If the convergence adjustment option has disappeared from the on screen menu, then replace FL231, DL231 and CL230 If the adjustment option hasnt disappeared from the menu then you need to check the resistors on the convergence power supply board some of those will be open. The actual convergence Board will usually not develope problems just the Convergence power supply if the convergence adjustment option is still in the on screen menu.

RCA model P61950

fl231 is the convergence fuse, and is soldered to the board in proximity of the convergence ICS, on RCA rear projection TVs.

If
fl231 has blown, TV usually does not turn on at al, if you get bowed picture, that means that the convergence ICs must be replaced.

The fuse is on the same board where you find convergence ICs, if the fuse had blown, or the pico fuses at the base of the STK convergence ics had blown, the STKs must be replaced.
There is need of purchasing the service manual to do the job.

The repair shuld be done by a technician.

This is the convergence IC, model may vary:

Autoconvergence option is GONE!

You will need to replace the ITC222 convergence power supply board and the FL231 fuse on the deflection board. You can get replacement parts at the following link with free installation instructions.

RCA R52WH74 (ITC222A Chassis)

no the board that has the FL231 on is the ITC222 deflection board. The other board is above the chassis in a seperate frame that runs across the set the convergence power supply is the board on the left above the board where the fL231 is. Yes the ITC222 and ITC222A are the same chassis. As for the service manual that site should have the service manual under the thomson category as the ITC 222 chassis is actually a thomson chassis made for RCA.

Fl231 fuse compatibility

yes, thats the replacement fuse for your set. However unless you have replaced the convergence power supply also chances are the fuse will blow again, as the power supply shorting is what causes the convergence to get out of alignment and it will then blow FL231 thereby removing the convergence option from the menu.

Convergence nightmare

If this is a ITC222 chassis then you need to check the fuses that are near the flyback. I would also unsolder all the pins on the flyback and re-solder them as the factory lead free solder tends to crack and cause issues with the convergence. Re-solder it with common 60/40 solder you can pick up from Radio Shack or other places.
