Hp L7580 fax machine

I do not have a long distance carrier so i us my mci calling card. With my old Office Jet K80 I could dial my access number on the phone handset and then let the fax machine dial the destination number. On my newer HP L7580 if I try this it will just give a message on the face saying "Line busy". Is there a way to do this short of getting a long distance carrier on my phone line?

Set up the fax driver in windows printers and faxes menu with the calling card prompts. you can use commas between sets of numbers for 2 second pauses. such as (example) 9,,1800callmci,,,2,,3,,cardnumber,,,4digitpin,,3685551212, - in this fashion, you can edit the fax number here before sending the fax.

Can fax to a toll free number but not to a local number

The easiest way to experiment with this problem is to plug in a phone in place of the fax.Take the list of numbers and try dialing them with the phone. Many local carriers now require for you do dial a "1" before the exchange, even if you are in the same area code.(I live in the D.C. area, and we have to dial "1" first).I believe adding a 1 to your local fax numbers will correct this issue. If not,try dialing another number at your location. If you can call one of your other numbers OK,but cannot dial to a local number even when dialing 1-area code-exchange-last four digits, this may be an issue with your long distance carrier.(Anytime you dial one before the other ten digits,it goes through along distance carrier, even on local calls).

Hp office jet K80 recieves fax, sounds like it is printing but pages are blank

It sounds like an empty cartridge. check your cartridges, it may be time to replace them. You have to give more information like did you try a print test and if so did it print ok? have you tried to have someone send you a test fax from different numbers?

Our HP Office Jet 4255 all in one suddenly won't receive faxes for some reason. It has been working fine up until now. We can send faxes, but for some reason the phone just keeps ringing and won't...

CHECK THE TELEPHONE NO.
Verify that you are dialing the number correctly. (i know its funny to ask)

Verify that you are dialing the number correctly. You must dial all of the numbers required to make a phone call from the same line. This includes numbers that must be dialed to access an outside line or to access long distance services.

TRY DIALING FROM THE FRONT PANEL
manually dial the number from the front panel of the fax.

If you have been using a speed dial or are faxing from the computer, print the page to be faxed and manually dial the number from the front panel of the fax. If the fax can be sent when dialed from the front panel, recreate the speed dial setting and insert some pauses.

Check the connections

Check the TELEPHONE LINE

Make sure that you have plugged the phone cord directly and securely into the wall jack and into the back port of the fax product. The fax port on your product is marked "Line," "To Wall Jack," or with a wall jack symbol.

Check LIU

Make sure the Line Interface Unit (box that the phone cord plugs into) is fully seated into the back of the fax product.

Remove the SPLITTER

Remove any other devices from the line such as splitters, credit card machines, or telephone answering machines.

Can try sending the Fax on Another Line

CHECK WITH DIFFERENT CABLE
Try using a different telephone cord.

I can fax to local numbers but not to long distance numbers. Phone company has no clue.

Your problem is how you have set up your long distance carrier. You may not be able to use your fax if you must first go through a phone card system. However, sometimes you can use enough pauses in your fax dialing to get through it. If your long distance carrier is your local phone company, they SHOULD be able to tell you how to dial.

How to add calling card 800# and PIN to expedite LD calling.

When storing a calling card access number and your PIN in the
phonebook as one phonebook item, press {PAUSE} to add pauses after the number and PIN as necessary. Or, if stored as separate entries, during a call, press MENU, press 1 to select “Phonebook”, and scroll up or down to find the entry and press Call. Repeat to dial other numbers.

Using a calling card for a long distance fax

It will surely help if you are using a calling card that has a pinless dialing feature where you don't need to dial your pin. I use Onesuite.com calling card and it has that feature and sending a fax through regular fax machine is easier than having to dial your pin midpoint.
