Try to remove and re-insert the cartridges into the printer carrier and make sure they are firmly inserted into the slot. Try to print again.
Print quality issues can be due to dirty or clogged cartridge nozzles. Try to open the Lexmark Solution Center on your computer to clean the cartridges.
On your computer, go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark 1300 Series folder > Lexmark Solution Center. From the Maintenance tab, select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a test page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them.
Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
Clean Cartridge Nozzles (Solution Center):

through the print cartridge nozzles to clean them.
4. Print a document again to verify that the
print quality has improved.
Sometimes the ink cartridge carrier

source.
2. With the cover open, hold the
solid white strip that connects from the carrier assembly to the ink cartridge
carrier and gently slide the cartridge carrier to the center of the printer.
3. Remove the used cartridge.
4. Load the new black cartridge. Close
the cover.
5. Plug the printer back to the
power source.
