My garminforerunner 305 didn't recognized from my PC. The cradle connection was checked by my friend garmin 305 and everything is ok. Also I made soft and hard reset but nothing. My watch was connected with my friend pc but nothing. Its impossible to reinstall the software from the internet because my device didn't recognized from the PC. So everything with connection is ok but I have the message from the PC ' the device not found' and ' usb device can't recognize due to malfunction'. Could you suggest me what to to ? Download the Garmin usb drivers from the Garmin website.
The update to Garmin Connect 2.9 must have wiped the USB drivers. Once I downloaded them again fromhttps://www8.garmin.com/support/download... it found my forerunner 305. So happy thanks!

SOURCE: Nuvi 350 System Software Missing
Try this: Hold the power buuton down, you will see on the lower screen the word "Pre Booting - ". Keep holding the power button for about 60 second, then you will see on the lower screen "Booting".
This time, release power button; system will reboot and loading map... again.
I got the same problem, after research on the web. Nick 99990_0 had post this solution on (his Nuvi 660) but it work for my Nuvi 350 too. Good luck.

I moved the battery wires to the main board, bypassing the spring contacts. No doubt my warranty is voided but at least the thing works now.

well after being on hold with garmin for 32 minutes they told me to send them the unit back and will repair at no cost.
My unit was purchased on may 27th 2007.

Same thing happened to mine. Put the unit in the cradle (just like you are going to recharge it) and press the reset and mode button at the same time for 3 seconds. This will "wake" the unit up.

If you have a nuvi 350 download the software to your computer and then load the software onto a formatted sd card. Insert the sd card and bootup the Nuvi 350. The sofware will then load onto the Nuvi 350. If you have a Nuvi 200 I would think it works the same but I have not tried it.

- Hold down MODE + RESET for few seconds
- Press the Power button to turn on the device

(This will erase all of your data inside the device)
- Hold down MODE + RESET + POWER for few seconds
- Press the Power button to turn on the device

Firmware Downgrade/Upgrade (2.9 > 2.8 > 2.9)
(This will erase all your data inside the device)
Software Downgrade/Upgrade
- Connect your Garmin Forerunner 305 to the computer
- Press the UP arrow button and hold while doing all the other steps below
- Press MODE + RESET for a moment (the computer will recognize the device)
- Dowload the Firmware from Garmin's website.
- Downgrade Firmware from 2.90 to 2.80. (You are still holding on that UP arrow button!)
- When the update is finished the Forerunner 305 should power on running the Firmware 2.80.
- Let go of the UP arrow button, disconnect the device from USB, connect it again and the computer should recognize it normally
- Update the Firmware to the current version.
