Press the key that is marked with a small circle, an apostrophe, and a double quotation mark. That is the DMS key. You can use it to convert from Decimal degress to DMS and back.

if you want to use your calc for this you would have to put it in as the operations to change the mixed to improper fraction i.e. input exactly as "((8*3)+6)*((3*7)+1)="  remember?  take denominator times whole number plus numerator and put over denominator to convert from mixed to improper... hope this helps

For the 30Xa you may download the manual (TI calls it a guidebook) from here. TI doesn't have a guidebook for the 30X IIS, but you can get the quick-ref and teacher's guide from here.

You don't. The 30X IIs runs on both solar power and a 2025 lithium battery. If you need to replace the 2025 battery, see this.

My TI-30X IIS is stuck on "fix"

You can use FIX notation display but specify the number of digits you retain. Press [2nd][FIX] and select the number of digits after the decimal mark (from 0 to 9). However if you do you will constantly have many unnecessary 0.
You can set the display to FLOAT.
To do so, press [2nd][SCI/ENG]. From the three choices you have select FLOAT.
