Hi I am vortash I have just looked at the service manual for this set and it actually does not use a bulb as it is not an Lcd or DLP projection TV . It actually employs three CRT based tubes that produce the picture with automatic focus and convergence systems . If you do not have the manual for this set you can download it from http://www.safemanuals.com free of charge It says that if you have sound and no picture turn the set off and unplug it for 3o seconds then replace plug and turn on from switch on set not from the wall plug switch .. as this may reset the tv and cure the problem .. hope this helps regrads Vortash

I have a hitachi 51g500a convergence problem i have a 110 and a 150 what should i replace them with
you can and should use two of the same; the 150 and 110 are identical except the 150 is a higher current device.

I usually replace both with the 150; be sure to remove all the old white heat sink compound and apply fresh as well as checking all the low value resistors around the two chips.

I have a Hitachi 51G500A TV. I Believe the green tube is out. How do I install a new one?
I hate to say it if you can fine one it would be from another scraped set it is a chore to do for a pro.
Recycle the set correctly.

Where is the lamp located on my HITACHI 51G500A?
51G500a is a rear projection CRT type set----It has no Lamp--it uses three picture tubes.


What is the problem with the set? Verify model number posted here is or is not correct.

I have a Hitachi Projection TV 51G500A 2004 ,
These sets have several common problems which are listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms
  • Screen Looks 3-D
  • Colors wont align
  • Screen may look distorted or warped
  • No Audio/Video - makes a chirping sound.
Problem #2

Another common problem is dull or washed out video.
Your TV may have one or more of the following symptoms....
  • Dull looking picture
  • White looking picture
  • Halos around objects
  • Red/Orange looking picture

Replaced convergence ics. This set is old and if colors especially red are flagging crts are going bad . I would not repair a set this old .

Hitachi 51G500A Convergence Problem
Hi, 110`s & 150`s are both replaced by stk 392-120`s. which run waaay cooler because the 120``s are rated at 4 amps while the 110`s and 150`s are 3 amp devices , the real key is to make absolutely certain you are not buying generics (which are everywhere on the internet), there should
be NO black print on the back side and a 4 digit code (not 5) on the front, top right corner, the originals or OEM`s are never $8.99, usually run about $12-15 and are made by Sanyo but the word sanyo will NOT be on the IC`s , so go by the info above, be sure to check for burnt resistors next to the heatsinks as well, good luck, video-tek

51' projection tv(Hitachi 51G500A)
The Hitachi part number for the screen assembly for the 51G500a is KR02844. You can call a Hitachi parts distributor and see for yourself how much those things cost, but I warn you they are not cheap!
